RPM saw BMMF at the bec. he did well.
the whole thing looked like a world of pain!
and I fucking hate gears.
I'm sure they are all very well, just not for me.
did you guys get a tubby little addiscombe cc rider on a TI merlin tag along with you on the way down?Yes, we killed him and his bike is now in my collection.
Nothing wrong with gears.. :P

fatboyralph yep. there was an addiscome rider on a merlin on the way down. was that you RPM??
great ride guys. learnt my lesson. fixed should never ever to go outside of the metropolis. fkn killer hills. never thought id hate downhills. have to get down there again tho..nice quiet lanes...but not til i get my road bike! we all rode back wayne. felt quicker one the way back actually. i reckon the total ride was about 100+ knee busting kms .I got 79mi exactly on the Polar. 126k. That's with 10-15k each way to/from Ealing.
Yeah, nice work for not dying today fixers! I was loving the chance to belt down some big (and little) hills for a change. Maxed at 80kph down Westerham Hill and 76kph down that short/sharp hill near the airport.

hippy Maxed at 80kph down Westerham Hill
Told you that was the 50mph-ish descent :P

Yep, Chapeau BMMF.
I took in Yorks Hill before the event and also clocked a PB, mine being a gentle amble (!!!) that took 3 mins 39 secs. If I knew they were selling burgers at the top I would have shaved a minute off. Did any LFGSS attendees (apart from BMMF) have a crack at it after the hillclimb?

Good ride guys. Hills were killers, but that only means I'll be stronger for the next time.
I was dead on Westerham Hill, but by the time we got back into London I was feeling much better, and I'm glad I made it to Bike Polo to watch the home team win.
Thanks, Brett, for being the map man.
Thanks to the rest of you for the encouragement. I wouldn't have even attempted riding up most of those inclines if I wasn't with you lot.
I have video - will sort out soon.

I've not hit that speed since arriving here. Chilterns aren't big enough or straight enough roads to get over the 70's.
Is that the hill mentioned in Matt Seaton's "Escape Artist"? -

Winston, I think he was rider number 43, clocked around 2 mins 30. Flew up the last section!
Hippy, yes.

My pics mostly came out blurred or with heads in the way :( Here are the best ones and how did you do BMMF?

That's Keith Brewster. Yep, about 2.30. He used to make me look very slow in the Beastway singlespeed races. Has worked in Evans on and off for years, and reckons he probably could've entered non-come-and-have-a-go hillclimbs if he'd just lied about being in the Evans racing team.

2.04 in the Catford and 2.02 in the Bec (I think Matt Goodes clocked 2.08 and 2.05 respectively - he was also doing it without gears).

Nice photos winston 'i wont be there but that's really just an excuse to drive' churchill :)
Surely having a guy in a blue skinsuit chase you up the hill is an unfair advantage?? ;)

A guy can change his mind can't he?
My girlfriend was keen to come and although she owns a bike...a 100k round-trip is a bit much to ask.

• #122
yeah, nice one guys - i love to see a bit of suffering on a sunday morning (and that was just on the faces of the guys riding down to the event).
BMMF - great ride there. you have got to be happy with a new PB.
some good photos there - shame it is so hard to capture the steepness of the climb on camera.
