Just got back - the park was getting busy as I was leaving, but a lovely bit of sunshine coming through the trees made for a scenic 3 laps. Quite icy/wet on the roads so I didn't push the corners or descents, but quite happy with 58:00

The corners were definitely greasy. I pushed them and dropped it at Kingston gate. Fucked my hip, elbow, ankle, scratched up my right hand lever and bent the rear derailleur. Not happy.
-
• #1330
Shit, sorry to hear that Gav- frame ok?
-
• #1331
Frames fine, not a mark on it thankfully, most of the marks are on me! I've only done 1000k's on the bike so it was bound to get dinged up at some point. I snapped the buckle off my sidis too so have to get that sorted.
How hard is it to fix a bent rear derailleur? It's now sending the chain into the spokes on the lowest gear, while not engaging the highest gear at all. Do you think there'll be enough adjustment to sort that out?
-
• #1332
Is it the derailleur or hanger that's bent? A new hanger shouldn't set you back much from your LBS.
-
• #1333
I've taken it off and your right, it's just the hanger that's bent. Too easy.
-
• #1334
There was a guy who had a sidi buckle for sale on here...
-
• #1335
Brixton Cycles have got a big box of Sidi spares- that's where I sourced my replacement after I smashed one.
-
• #1336
Thanks Neil, I'll swing past there early next week. Hopefully they'll have a suitable hanger as well.
-
• #1337
Some places bend hangers back. Sigma in Kingston for example.

My first ever 'training' ride ended with this faintly depressing time...

My feet have still not warmed back up properly - they were numb before I'd even started! Definitely a lot of room for improvement but it ended up being a 50 mile round trip so I'm not sure how many opportunities I'll get. I assume the traffic is worse at the weekend (got stuck, being too polite, at a couple of roundabouts)?

For a first training ride that is a solid effort - especially at these temperatures.
-
• #1340
Can people stop posting times faster than mine and calling them a disappointment? Thanks.
-
• #1341
^exactly the reason I haven't posted one yet.
-
• #1342
Is anyone putting in any laps tomorrow?
Have you joined Dolescum.cc?
-
• #1343
I wanted mine up there as motivation to improve it. But it turns out that I never have time to get on my bike anymore unless it's to ride to the office.
-
• #1344
^^^ Ha, sorry, that doesn't read very well. Personally I was quite happy with it - but in the context of this thread as a whole it's a bit depressing to have the grim realisation that there are people that will be threatening to lap you over the same distance.
I'm still struggling to come to terms with the fact I'll never be a professional footballer! ;)
-
• #1345
^^^ Can't wait for it not to be dark the whole time.
-
• #1346
Moonlighting for them at the moment, because can'tnearsedtogointotheoffice.cc is a little obvious.
I might be joining Dolescum.cc myself tomorrow, we'll see.
If I do, then I'll be up for some laps.
-
• #1347
So, as it's colder tonight than on the weekend, And gav came off on the weekend, would it be very foolish of me to attemp laps tonight?
Will it be Icey?

Probably a bad idea... It's below freezing now and likely to be 3 or 4 below by midnight. Also Wimbledon area seems to be caught in a bit of a gale so rp is probably similar

It always feels much colder in the park than outside of it.
Based on the way my night's going it's unlikely I'll make it, but will try.
