^ I saw you at the lights at the top of Putney High St - waved at you and yelled - you didn't see me, clearly getting yourself into the zone

I couldn't give a shit. I can't help it if other riders are compelled to stare at the magnificent behind of an alpha male.
I don't imagine you suffer the inconvenience of having others 2" off your wheel very often on a climb - they're much more likely to be 20 meters behind you chewing bartape and crying a bit

Does anyone have a nice route to get from north (Stoke Newington) to RP?
I usually head to Angle > St John's St > Smithfield > blackfriars > Embankment > HoP > Embankment > Chelsea > Putney > right after the bridge and so on.
It's OK because of the Embankment stretches, but Chelsea and Putney are always a faff, as is Angel.
Cheers.

Have you ever thought about riding in Epping forest instead? It would take you less than 30 minutes to ride to, the lanes have less traffic, are smoother and have more hills, plus you can make all sorts of loops up.
There's also fewer cyclists.

Just went for the first time to RP. It was absolutely packed with cars.
Rode three laps CCW in 1:06:51. Fixed, with 75.50 gear inches.
Check the segment, or the whole Strava ride -

I'd like to get out tomorrow. Am I being overly cautious in not wanting to take out my steel road bike? Might just go on the fixed.
-
• #1290
Why wouldn't you take a steel road bike? Are you going swimming?

Just something about it being winter makes me think I'll find a pile of rust where my bike used to be the morning after. I'm just being daft, aren't I? I'll take it out tomorrow, there's no rain forecast.

• #1292
It's reasonably dry out there. Give the bike a wipe down when you're done.

No less than 2 separate incidents spotted during my hour and a bit session today.

Yeap... but there are a couple of quite stupid reasons why not. Which basically come down to htfu. Oddly tho I find the ride to Epping more hidious than to RP.
But I agree it is much nicer once you're there. Plus after all the wind and this time of year the road under the foresty bits should e fairly dry and clean.

Perfect weather out in the park for a good time today. It was still and dry. I did two fixed laps and it was a pleasure.

Two laps for me today, lovely weather. Police car came right up behind me and put the sirens on - thought I was going to get a ticket for going 21mph. But he zoomed off and stopped a black Megane. I was having a coffee afterwards and he stopped an old Lexus, but the driver kept trying to walk off when the policeman was talking to him. He came into the cafe, then the policeman did, and hauled him back out. Then another police car arrived with four more. Was all good entertainment while I had a drink.
Strava had a little notice mentioning maintenance tonight between 10 and 11pm.
