  • 13:35 is the afternoon, not the morning, you fucking divs.

  • I was there on Saturday morning. Yes it's windy, but it's a circle, so whatever it costs you on one side, you get back on the other.

It doesn't actually work like that, some sort of mathematics / physics formula thing means that if a course has equal lengthed headwind and tailwind sections, you cannot make up on the tail wind section what you lose on the headwind section, true with hills too....I

  • not to mention wind direction is never linear...

  • Ever wondered exactly how fast pros could go round? David Millar did a 13:35 anti lap this morning :|

Now remembering I was out on the bike at 7:30 this morning when he did this and it was blowing a fucking evil gale from the north. And he did it from a standing start. Go rice cakes.

  • The benefits of EPO, eh?

    Oh.

  • Yep. Once you pop you can't stop.

  • I think you both need to get some perspective. So the bloke did EPO or whatever over half a decade ago. Who cares. The real issue here is his flagrant disregard for the 20mph speed limit in Richmond Park. It's sickening behaviour.

  • You're right! the fastest legal lap would be 20:06
Which is currently held by Vedran of GC Gruppepo

  • That's the value of a rigorous core maintenance regime. I've never met anyone with abs like Ved's. Millar could learn a lot from him.

  • Non aero too

  • Ved's lap was after an all night boozing session. Didn't he finish his kebab just minutes before the start?

  • And he had a large chips in his jersey pocket

  • Salt and vinegar though.. shakes head

  • Ved uses a protein bar as a stem so that he can bulk up whilst chewing it.

  • That's not a protein bar...

  • It doesn't actually work like that, some sort of mathematics / physics formula thing means that if a course has equal lengthed headwind and tailwind sections, you cannot make up on the tail wind section what you lose on the headwind section, true with hills too....I

and also sidewind is unhelpful too. so if you ride an approximate circle with a constant wind, it's got to be hindering you at most of the way round

    That's not a protein bar...

    ha repped

  • ^if he'd done that lap in the normal helmet he had on at the beginning of that piece I would have thrown my bikes in the bin and gone and bought some golf clubs.

  • if he'd done that lap in the normal helmet he had on...

I'm disappointed he didn't do it in that beret.

Anyway doesn't he know that it's the Richmond Park * 3-lap * challenge. Pffft!

  • No stamina that Millar guy..

That link doesn't work for me--it keeps changing 'sport2' to 'sport1'--is it still on-line?

  • Bell asked Millar whether he thought his record would be beaten. "I don't know, I don't think so. There aren't many pros that ride around here, are there," replied Millar.

    Ouch.

It's been removed after the Police complained (or so I'm led to believe).
