it was good day and nice little ride out. we all seemed to buy a lot of pedals, clips and christophe straps!
some serious bike porn on show there and a few nice fixed wheels outside too. def the way to buy bike bits.

Wonder if the other fixed riders there frequent the forum? Coulda used some spokecards
you'll be glad to know Elvis my chain is no longer orange.
I am still a wheezing no-fitness rider though, but at least the brown leather colour scheme will work now.
Found some pictures of the same model Carlton on FGG http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2006/sept/DouglasUser.htm
Think mine might need a bit of polish before it gets to that standard though

nice. if you want any help working on it give me a shout.
the sylvan, mks, christophe combination does look seriosuly smart. might have to swap out the pedals, not sure I like the feel of them.

Yeah not installed mine yet, don't want to scuff them up untill I know if they'll fit the Carlton.
Rode the same route we took to the jumble into to work today was a bit easier when I didn't have to chase you two.
Though the fog did settle on my hoodie and turn into frost

• #133
you taking your bike or using one of theirs?
You'll have to show us your chops on the ghettodrome
-
• #134
one of theirs. think they have dolan's?? not sure though. i'll take some pictures and post them up here.
i've been doing a fair few laps down at the ghettodrome. it's lovely in the week but a pain in the arse at the weekend.
-
• #135
would the ghettodrome be Preston Park track?
I've often wondered if I could just turn up there during the week and do some laps or whether a park keeper would object like they always did when I was a kid

i live in east grinstead, about 25mile away
i normally park my car at park and ride and then cycle into town when crashing at friends etc.i hear there is a track around preston park?
anyway.. if there is anything happening saturday, let me know and ill trip down.
i was chatting to a friend about doing the critical mass on friday and then crashing over at hers.. though im not sure if that will happen yet. -

it's fine to go down the preston park track whenever (though there are proper race meets during the summer.)
Might have to dodge a jogger and at weekend children on roller blades.
All adds to the fun though

thanks Kelvin, I might give it a go on Friday, just the hills on the way home put me off a bit

hello Brighton. Elvis, how's the fuji?

get your own fourm.... ;)

chris crash get your own fourm.... ;)
it wouldn't be a very active forum :(
guys, go down to preston park whenever. weekdays are better for training as it's empty. as kelvin says, weekends are a pain in the arse. you sometimes find a track rider down there practising and you can train with them.
fruitbat, it's in bits! i took it apart last week and still haven't decided how many changes I'm going to make as of yet. may even plump for the full respray jobie. still in two minds really...

I'll do a few laps this week, be nice not to have worry about traffic, I used to ride round it late at night in 1981, wouldn't do that now
I know they have to clear the broken glass off the track on a Wednesday before racing, seems popular with local bottle throwers on their way home from the pub

I think I might be re-spraying mine too...
So when's the inaugral londonfgss ghetodrome invitational?

Kelvin I think I might be re-spraying mine too...
So when's the inaugral londonfgss ghetodrome invitational?
that's not bad idea kelvin. get the london lot to cycle down. then they'll be all tired and we can wip them on the track ;)
on a serious note, sure we could organise that...

I'm in as long as we can call the event
'Welcome to the Ghettodrome"
would we need permission or just kind of take over one weekend arvo?
-
• #146
if it's in the summer and cricket matches are on it will be dangerous, I saw some bad accidents when I played cricket there with riders on the track
-
• #147
not sure actually. at the weekend you'd need to clear the track to be safe. i guess if you book it for an event then you can tell people to clear off. they could stay on the grass but no balls, dogs etc.
-
• #148
who would we need to speak to? The council i spose, they talk about hiring it on this page http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm?request=c1141162 but there's no mention of actual costs
-
• #149
they told me to ring the sports booking team on 01273 292704 when I emailed them just to ask if it was okay to cycle round the track during the week, I never did ring
it's a hard thing to police anyway, even if you book it Joe Public won't take kindly to being told he can't play football or walk his dog near the track, I doubt the council do anything to help even though you've paid them

at the track meets they use a pa system. that and the amount of riders mean that people generally fuck off.
sorry I didn't get to say hello, we weren't there long and I didn't see any fixeds, I bought a well used Concor saddle that looked just like one I used to have in 1981, I've tried ariones and toupes recently neither seem to suit me so when I saw an old favourite I couldn't resist it and when the bloke said £2 I could have kissed him, on walking round I saw another one in better condition but my son told me to put it back and 9 year olds are always right
