My wife and daughter were just chaos, they'd take batteries from the "need charging" tub rather than the clearly marked and easier to access "charged - use these" tub. They'd put non-rechargeables in the charger despite the "don't put things in the charger yourself" training. They'd take batteries out of the charger that had only been in there for 15 minutes.

The worst battery charging chaos I've seen are people that don't label packs so you don't pair a 5 year old and 3 year old cell of the same brand together.

All the fucking Trakka content on instagram. So you rode 100km gravel at a party pace and it was a bit muddy...

Sorry what now?
You can only use multiple batteries from the same make, model and year?

It's not a good idea to mix different cells as they will have different discharge characteristics and you risk the one with some capacity left reverse charging the empty one which is a great recipe for leaks with non-re chargeable cells. Less of a leak problem with rechargeable but you still don't get the best performance if you mix and match chemistry/brands. I wouldn't mix a basic NiCad with a fancy branded NiMH (eg Eneloop) and I try and keep sets bought together together.

Yeh na yeh, You're (and @lynx ) right, apologies
Just i'm working in a place in a neighbourhood of Madrid that isn't even that posh compared to some, but there's un huevo of flag waving priviliged gilipolla natives here, and they stand out a mile. The padel players
The other half are pretty chill tho.. if not at times a bit tooo chill. Just like me. -

The trammo being fucking rammo, and late and missing my train to have a nice walk on a sunny day. Sure I had a chill day wanking and looking over autotrader but I could've done that afterwards, and now the people that caught the train are too tired to get pissed.

This will make me sound mega grumpy, but…
… large groups hiking for sponsorship. They’re slow. They use those sticks as if it’s Everest Base Camp (difficult to pass) and then you can’t get anywhere near the bar in the pub at the end of the walk because it’s rammed.

Could have just done groups and sponsorship and I’d have been on board.

Charity sport events
I do not want to "sponsor" someone doing an "epic" run/ride/climb/whatever* all under the cause "it's for a charity". Just donate yourself and ride up that mountain if you want to.

Motor vehicle insurance is run by the province where I live, Manitoba.
Wooo, Manitoba! You must be proud of Bob Altemeyer... Aah dammit, he's no longer with us.

Having to charge all the things.
Beats having to buy batteries for all the things.
So much so, in fact:

You can sidestep all that NiCad/NiMH hassle by collecting LiPos from old phones and laptops and disposable vapes you find on the street etc, buying a bunch of USB-C BMSes at about 50c a pop, and going the hack with a dremel and making it all good with hot glue.
The bathroom scale above, I chucked a diode in series to knock down the volts a tad just in case, but I've already done a bunch of devices that ran off 3V or 4.5V without bothering about changing the lithium volts, they've all worked fine... even though one jigger which ran off three cells is constantly flashing a low battery symbol, it's otherwise fully functional.
I've got a couple of step-up boards (about $2) waiting for anything which needs more volts; they can be turned up to 20-odd. Not sure how many amps can be delivered like that, but there's probably a similarly cheap way to do this with a couple of LiPo cells... I'll scope that out if it's ever necessary.

Oh yeah, re going the hack with dremel, I recently discovered these tiny little circular saw blades of various diameters a fraction of a mm thick, which are way better for cutting up plastic than those fragile abrasive discs. Just be super careful you don't fumble it, could be massive carnage...

I guess all the followers of this thread are busy modifying all their devices...

I hate painting. Only had to decorate the laundry but it has sapped my will to live. I had been dreading it all week and it did not fail to disappoint. Almost done, just a little cutting in to do tomorrow.
Hopefully.

It is on my list of things where paying a professional is the better way to go.

Didn't have that option unfortunately, builder came in on very short notice on Friday so I had to DIY. We're getting a painter in to paint the rest of the inside and outside at the back in a few weeks. Trades are in high demand over here, so spendy.
My wife bought a battery storage box for our mountain of rechargeable batteries, even has a charge tester. I realised I'd reached peak dad with how excited it made me.
