I am currently hating drivers that accelerate out of side roads only to slam on the brakes at the give way lines as I cycle by on the road they wish to join.

Cycling through double mini roundabouts. They seem to confuse drivers at the best of times, but you can guarantee not to be given any right of way whatsoever if you're on a bike.

Let’s extrapolate the same mechanism of doing something like a sleepout to engender empathy and apply it to people raising money for an HIV or disability charity. It suddenly looks quite shit and offensive doesn’t it.

That Westminster makes you separate the different types of recycling in to different grubby bins but then puts everything in to the same bin truck when they pick it up. Infuriating.

It all has to go through the same semi-automated filtering process anyway.

1. A significant portion of the human race is too lazy or stupid to put the right things in the right bins.
   
2. What's allowable in each category is complicated and inconsistent anyway (most recycling centres don't bother with shredded paper and as for plastic...)
   
   

Having the different bins is just ceremony.

In my area of bristol we have 5 receptacles in total:
Wheelie bin for non recyclables.
Food waste bin
Box for glass
Box for metal, plastic and paper
Bag for cardboard
Bin for green waste

Wait, that’s 6 isn’t it? Ridiculous.
