Got to admit, I looked up some videos on Youtube and to me, the Scottish part is fading in and out a little bit too, I definitely perceive it as a posh accent first. However, I'm also not very trained in distinguishing some of the wide variety of UK accents on offer.

I worked as a TEFL teacher for a while when over seas- I’m fairly RP in terms of accent and the students had a hard time understanding me as it’s the least common version of English that they head- US being number one, then a sort of general mid-Atlantic/International School.
I don’t know where (say) Geordie would rank vs RP, as there weren’t any examples.

I also hate the person who stole our milk from outside our house this morning! I feel like putting up a little photo there of my 2yo, crying.

The teeniest, tiniest type on ingredients. Fuck off with your ‘brand’ shit, taking up 95% of the packaging space, what’s in your product? I can’t read it, you’re dead to me.

Or if it’s an allergen you may be dead to them and everyone else.

The -eur suffix in general, when used like this, or just the brand in particular?
-
• #13415
The eur suffix to make it seem like you're doing something more noble than just riding your bike. But it's making me also hate the brand. And add to the list the people that use any of those words unironically.

Me trying to make a point BBC questiontime etc. often doesn't take into account that people from majority groups have a power over minority groups due to, well, there being more of them and perhaps the moderators should deal with that better to prevent people being talked over

Train tickets, why do a third of the train tickets I buy fail to open the barrier and I have to go and show it to a disinterested gaurd who is just holding the gate open for the streams of people who also have tickets that have a strip that does naff all
-
• #13421
Stupid question, but is it possible you ever keep them close to a magnet? Maybe something like a wallet clasp? That kind of thing has the potential to mess with tickets.

The amount of reverence paid to the Oscars by the British media. Who gives a flying fuck?
-
• #13423
I do, when do they announce the nominees?
-
• #13424
I don’t really get those awards in general. I can’t think of anything more boring.
Edit: ok I tried and did think of a few more boring things. But not that many.

Was trying to think of more boring things of them?
Class certainly affects people's perception of accents. Still amazed by the number of English people who watched every series of "One foot in the grave" but didn't notice that the two lead characters had Scottish accents. They had "posh" accents (but very Scottish ones) and the English don't typically associate Scots with that, so they tuned it out some how, perceiving only the poshness.
