I hate

Halloween. What even is it?! Why the rush for us to be more and more American?! Surely not just because Asda want to sell us more landfill fodder?! And the greeting “Happy Halloween” just rubs salt in my open wound. Happy?! Wtf?!

Oh and “bidons”. Good one.

I'm trying to work out at what point superhero costumes became acceptable Halloween attire; you're supposed to be scary, not bloody Iron Man.

In my mind there are no acceptable Halloween outfits. It has no meaning, no purpose, no reason to celebrate anything. No reason to get dressed up. And all the bloody wordplay "spooktacular" this and "ghoulish" that! Obviously I'm getting old, but I just can't see the point.

@whatfriends urgh, that does sound fucking horrible. We have a few UWE student houses on our street. They're actually no bother at all apart from occasional high spirited night out departure/returns.

When I was younger there didn't seem to be the trick or treating opting in or out by way of placing a pumpkin outside your house or not. That's made it loads better in my opinion.

My daughter was told she could go to her football training last night in her halloween outfit. That got me thinking but I didn't get things sorted quick enough, as I'd wanted her to go full Terry Butcher:-
