  • Does anyone know if they're likely to give any wiggle room on this, or where I could phone? The police don't have any phone numbers other than 999

    101 - non emergency number

  • 101 doesnt work everywhere. few times ive tried to get local plod non emergancy even directry enqiories cant tell me.

it was 10/15+ years ago, i cant remeber exact terms, but he ended up with 30gbp fine and points on his car/hgv license for riding his pushbike.

    Okay, try 020 7404 1212

  • It's an urban myth. You can't have your licence endoresed for offences you commit on a pushbike.

  • You don't get points for stealing cars.

  • Would that not be a criminal offance as opposed to a driving one?

  • Okay, try 020 7404 1212

    Number does not exist

  • there is an offence of furious cycling but you cant get done for excess speed per se because pedal cycles are not required by law to be installed with a speed recording device

  • Wish it can be said for Richmond Park who tend to clamp down to cyclists going too fast, and will fine you under "reckless and furious cycling", even thought speed limit doesn't exist for a bicycle (royal parks).

  • I like reading this park survey showing motorists average 22mph, but cyclist's 23mph.

You do in Grand Theft Auto.

Royal Parks have their own laws and by-laws. The 20mph limit DOES apply to human powered vehicles in the Royal Parks.

  • hence (royal parks).

  • Legalities aside, lets get to the crux of the matter...

Getting a speeding fine on your bike is fucking awesome.

  • +1

    Well worth £30 IMO.

  • If I were to get a speeding fine on my bicycle, I would get it written by the police so I can defintely show I have been speeding.

Frankly, Balki, it gets boring after a while. There's something very wrong with the world when I can't do my usual 30mph (avg).

  • I thought Scottish law had the power to add endorsements to driving licenses for cycling offences. Might be wrong tho'.

  • You don't get points for stealing cars.

You can do as you are probably not insured to drive a stolen car and therefore driving while uninsured will do it.

  • They are driving offences, the act of stealing isn't.

Sounds like something Alex Salmond would do.... DICK

  • It's for speeding, not cycling, so slightly OT, but this seemed the most likely place to get some opinions/insight.

    As opposed to?

  • doing the ol' tales of "i've been caught speeding on my bike" without anything to show for?

  • Getting a speeding fine on your bike is fucking awesome.

Almost as awesome as a "furious cycling" fine. Not really sure what you have to do to get one of those, but I imagine it's beyond my ability.
