PayPal notifications to the LFGSS server is borked.
3 notifications have failed, I'll fix them manually for now, but I don't know when PayPal will fix it.

Fixed... it was my fault, I had changed a minor detail over on PayPal and that changed the security hash that LFGSS uses to confirm we are the endpoint that should get notifications.
Subtle.

Just to note: Buro 9 has been dissolved, and the bank accounts closed.
The last amount in the kitty (£850) is sitting in my personal account, and the two things of note:
1) Do not try and send donations direct to the bank account. We might lose it, I'm not sure what happens if you send money to an account being closed.
2) The cash on hand plus affiliate revenue is approaching "ticking over" levels with only a month and a bit on hand.
On #2, this is fine... LFGSS can survive like this for a few months and hopefully that's when we move to Microcosm. So if you are tempted to suddenly donate more I'd actually suggest you register on Seedrs and invest in a few weeks time instead: https://www.lfgss.com/thread108508.html

If you have a recurring donation, I presume that has just moved to the new accounts? Or maybe it was already going there anyway...But wanted to make sure.

ah hence the email from Paypal about my donation expiring

How can I send an anonymous donation?

Should carry on regardless, I've changed my details with PayPal and PayPal manages the recurring donations.
It only isn't the case for one person who has been notified. Because that person didn't want to do PayPal and had a bank standing order and manual reconciliation instead.
Should be seamless for everyone.
ah hence the email from Paypal about my donation expiring
Nope, that's just it recurring.
PayPal will say it's cancelled if the card expires, payment fails.
PayPal will say it's expiring, every month on a monthly subscription, and then do a new transaction shortly afterwards.
Basically PayPal's idea of recurring payments seem to be a series of individual payments that last X duration, expire, and then need the next instance in the series to happen. Rather than actually be a payment that recurs.
Their confusing emails come out of them not being able to model it correctly back in the day.
Post Velocio a tenner? Address is in the whois.
That works. Surprisingly.
It's also possible to gift gold stars using this mechanism. Just include a note saying who should be credited for it. I won't know who it's from, so effectively this gifts the gold star and any privileges/acknowledgement to that person mentioned.

how trustworthy is your postie though?

Oh, and Default Off, you are not actually anonymous at the moment but if you want to be then I would recommend you also use a VPN from someone like https://www.ivpn.net/ , access LFGSS via https , and if you are really paranoid also use Tor.

He's an old Northern gent, he's pretty trustworthy.
Used to have a scally who swiped post, but this one has been our postie for a few years and he's cool.

J1) Do not try and send donations direct to the bank account. We might lose it, I'm not sure what happens if you send money to an account being closed.
They should bounce the payment back. However my experience is that the receiving bank allocates it to a suspense account. Once there it is very difficult if not impossible to get it back out again as the banks just blame each other. I suspect that they make a lot of money this way.

I was seeing if I could hide my ID from you even for a short time. Clearly failed. Will donate unanonymously as penance -

so it was hippy all along? i knew it.

I've had to post some for sale ads recently. And they'll be a few more soon.
Microcosm's runaway funding today isn't helping run LFGSS yet.

i dropped a £20 donation in yesterday but it was only going to be £10 from sale of mudguards to Hamiltron.
Just want to give props to Hamiltron as when he realised the money was just going to be donated here he insisted i took the £20.

Props indeed, so I've just credited him with it too.

I will be making a donation but due to my religious beliefs I cannot recommend its use for beers. So have a couple of bottles of Schloer on me!

It's not a donation, but just wanted to say huge thanks to Rapha's affiliate program.
November > March are the tightest months moneywise for running this site, and the SSL certificate is due which is a couple of hundred quid.
So many people went nuts buying Rapha for Christmas, that all my fears that I couldn't actually afford the SSL certificate have been handled by Rapha, we earned over £300 in revenue from Rapha, meaning that the over £200 SSL certificate can be renewed.
Not cutting it tight on the finances in anticipation of Microcosm at all, oh no.

Another reason to love Rapha. Well played. Now if only they offered a forum discount...
Usually indicates PayPal is broken in some way... I'll go check.
