Dropped my Chiroco off there this weekend. He had some lovely bits in there. Quite a few lovely examples of completed stuff and he was very generous (30 for clearcoat plus he woudl do a bit of retouching first). Nice guy. Really nice guy

Mario is a gent. He can also arrange for powdercoating if you can't be arsed getting up to Hackney. I had forks, bars and stem done for £30. Good quality and ready within two weeks.

£30 for powder coating? Seriously?
-
• #432
seems Mario charges £30 for everything!
-

£30 for Stem, bars and forks only (not bad for a fiddly job). Not sure what a frame and forks would cost, but worth asking.
His contact may even allow bulk discounts which Armourtex got wise to and stopped doing.

Would Mario be a good person to go to to get some panelling and other detail work done?
I'm thinking of getting a base colour powdercoated and then panels and other details painted on top of that. If anyone has anyone they could recommend for the detail, please PM me as I'm clueless. Vaz is the only guy I've seen doing that kind of work here, hence my visit to this thread, but I'm not opposed to going anywhere else! -

Picked up my Witcomb from Mario on sat.
Considering how messy the frame was (approximative lugwork, rust, etc...) he did a good job and I am really pleased with the result.

I've just got a frame back from Mario and am well pleased with the result. He's quick, cheap and knows his stuff. I loved looking at the other frames he has hanging up there in his workshop, some for sale.
He told me no need to wait for it to cure. I've bashed it about a bit in transit, messed around building it up on a cramped garage floor, but no chips yet. I'm sure it will chip soon enough though, it is only paint after all. -

How much is Mario charging these days?
He's only round the corner from me, much more convenient than Armortex thinking about it.

For your Oak?

I paid £75 for one colour frame & forks with a metallic lacquer. He did seem to pluck a figure out of the air though and seemed in a cheery mood.

I have a few frames I am thinking of taking to Vaz, i saw one of his jobs the other day, it was really stunning, amazing job, very delicate lug lining....great finish. But it had a few "chips" in the paint. The guy who owned the frame said they just appeared one by one. The frame has never been built or ridden and has sat int he same place the whole time. self chipping paint? anyone know of this?
