dont be a numpty ! get a brake or you'll kill yourself, there is no way you can stop effectively with 90GI...
the rear is brazed in and the fork is an undrilled track one.
don't forget, cambridge aint no london... cars are scared of cyclists here.

I've been working in Cambridge recently and I can tell you white vans are scared of no one.
I was actually working in Adenbrookes so, not only could I take you out but I could also push you all the way to A & E

48/20 feel like an ass, it's too spinny. sigh giving it another three-four days.
my question: why can I keep up with the boys when I've had a few pints but beforehand I'm slow as?

Oh I know this one, I accidently carried out a scientific study where I did the same route while stone cold sober and while completely pissed, I was a good 15% faster pissed, i'm guessing with all the alcohol your muscles can't get the message through that you're murdering them so you keep pedalling like you're not tired out, but boy do you feel it in the morning!

It's a muscle relaxant, so you settle into an fluent pedal stroke more easily. No good if you want to put the hammer down though.
-
• #462
i don't see why a higher gear'll make you fitter? spin to win.
-
• #463
'Fitter' is a bit vague though, init. A very tall gear will probably, in most contexts, make someone cardiovascularly *less *fit over the course of a few months, but - injuries withstanding - stronger, in terms of generating more low cadence force.
It's highly unlikely to make you more powerful.
-
• #464
99.5GI up some steep hill....come on, course it'll make you more powerful
-
• #465
No it fucking won't. I've ridden 96" up Swains Lane (15%ish section) and it only addresses force.
When I ride up it 5x faster in a 60" gear, I'm producing loads more power.
Power is about speed (force produced over time, or some shit like that).

Power is about speed (force produced over time, or some shit like that).
power = force x velocity (speed)
or, if you're going in circles,
power = torque x angular velocity (cadence)

Good luck turning on the chaps down the gym.

But big muscles are just weight to carry around on a bike if you can't move them fast. Don't go to the gym and try to look like Hoy, get on your bike and try to pedal like him

Did you try Highgate hill on that CheBeef ?
I did it on a 47/16 Tuesday (77.2 GI), and it was quite tough on the lactic acid tolerance. 80.5GI would be interesting..
Nope, no hills yet, the hardest thig i've climbed is a cycle lane on the Greenway, there's a bridge going over the railway and it's pretty steep, but not long. I'll be going of long rides and testing out my metal over the summer.

you feel it in the morning because instead of dealing with lactate and replacing the glycogen in the liver itself and in the muscles the liver is dealing with the alcohol.
it's why i have cut right down on booze and only imbibe after a recovery drink and some food. for me it helps with the muscle soreness the following day.my current favorite gear is 50:14 as it means i'm on the way back from the hills

not if you have an ectomorphic body type, it's very hard to build muscle.
