  • Anyone got a cheap 36h 700c rim (or two) for sale? Not too hefty ideally.

  • Looking for advice...

I've got some DT Swiss 1800 Spline DB wheels currently 12mm thru axle.

I bought the HWGXXX0004785S end caps which appear to be the right ones according to the DT Swiss website, however they don't fit...

Has anyone converted these wheels before

  • Not having much luck at the moment are you?

  • Haha no...Why can't bikes settle on one standard!

Condor Race Rims 36h in Silver, £14.99 each and you can pick up from Condoe

I have built wheels with those and they are good for that price.
A bit narrow compared to what Instagram and Hipsters that don't ride tell you to ride but hey.

    Photos / technical data here:

  • Hmmm. Maybe too hefty, but I've got a Mavic A319 from a couple of years ago. It was laced to a Shimano 3-speed IGH, so it's tatty but 'unused'. Yours for free IF you take some other crap off me : )

^ (tho' the Condor rims that @Vince recommends look like great value!)

  • Are these a better choice than the ADHN type rims you got from Tredz?

    Edit, Halo white line

  • That would be perfect but unfortunately I'd need it posting which ends up generating more work for you and preventing me from collecting your other crap :(

Condor rims look okay but I think I've been spoiled by the £5 PlanetX bargains! Also CNC-bike have some 550g Ryde rims for €8 (!) but postage is prohibitive.

Will continue to search for now...

Edit: this is for a coaster hub so disk rims will do the job as well, though all the cheap rims seem to be for rim brakes mainly

  • It is Halo White Line Classic that I ordered from TREDZ. Took about 3 weeks to deliver.
    https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Halo-White-Line-700c-Classic-Road-Rim_18729.htm

Paid sub £42 for a pair incl. £10 of bits (there are always £10 off £50 vouchers around)

Both ADHN and Halo White Line have a similar wide profile but the Halo one is better made.

Depends on what colour you are after, timescales and also budget.
Worth keeping the rim profile in mind if you are on a budget and want to re-use spokes.

At £14.99 a pop, I would go to Condor and get them TODAY

  • Anyone know anything about the Ryde Zac19? Looks like you can get them for <£10 each...

520g, eyelets, rim brake track, 622-19 size

  • Anyone know anything about the Ryde Zac19?

It's a Rigida Zac 19, they have been around since the dawn of time. Solid rims.

  • Well it's labeled Ryde on this website, they must have got it wrong. Was just about to ping you as it looks like you used to have one 8 years ago on a mental bike with 9t sprocket for riding on rollers. Did you ever hit 85 RPM for race duration?

  • Well it's labeled Ryde on this website, they must have got it wrong.

It's not wrong, Ryde is the name used for the parts of Rigida which weren't merged into Weinmann. They have started marketing some Rigida-Weinmann products as Ryde in some markets.

  • @cycleclinic
I know the usual wisdom is to buy rims and hubs, then measure them before calculating and ordering spokes.

However I think these hubs and rims are one of your common combinations, so I'm hoping you could supply CX-rays without the need for double ordering.

Miche Primato Syntesi black hubs Shimano 10/11 speed (20F /24R)
BORG31 (Kinlin XR31T) 700c Bicycle road/CX tubeless compatible rim. (Symetric front / Offset rear)
    Radial front / 2X rear

    Thanks, Neil

  • Seems all I needed to do was put a 20mm socket over the end caps and whack them with a hammer. All sorted now. Some fitting instructions would have been amazing but alas the world of bikes is never easy!

  • Anyone got a cheap 36h 700c rim (or two) for sale? Not too hefty ideally.

I've got a few Mavic A319s in 36h silver, new and unused. Looks like they're about £27 each most places - £15 each or £25 a pair. Happy to post for a fiver.

  • I'll get back to you!

  • When in doubt, hit it with a hammer

    +hippy would agree

  • 270mn front, 278/280mm rear.

  • How difficult is it to tune a badly build wheel?

  • Thanks, much appreciated ☺

With CX-rays not shown on the website, I'll have to call on Monday to order.
After a set with race spokes and a set with cx-ray.

  • Maybe 8/18 if it's really bad.

  • Is that the probability of success or difficulty levels?
