  • At the moment, I believe so. 2018 release from what I've heard, and probably not early 2018 either.

  • Someone on WW guessed that Mavic won't sell them because it would cannibalise their wheel sales

  • Is it a dead cert that i would have to centre/allign a Park Tool TS 2.2 out the box?

    Cheers

  • Don’t know if this is the right spot for this — changed cassettes and can’t remember if there was a spacer for the free hub yet or not. Based on the pic below do I need a spacer before I throw the cassette on?

  • You mean behind it? 10 speed on 11 speed freehub?

  • I don’t know what the freehub is - always had 10 spd cassettes on this hub, just can’t remember if I’ve used spacers...

And it didn’t sound right when I was tightening it... but that could also be my general incompetence

  • But you are asking about a spacer behind the cassette?
If the lockring tightens up on the last cog and there's no movement in the cassette then its fine.
There'd be too much thread out if there was a spacer missing and you'd be able to rock the cassette side to side after doing up the lock ring

  • Surely once you put the lockring on it'll be obvious? If there's play in the cassette it needs a spacer; if it's firmly in place then it doesn't

  • yeah, spacer behind the cassette. there doesn't seem to be play, but I thought there was some rule about how much space is between cassette and end of hub...

    here...

  • Haven’t heard of that one

  • The internet is full of lies.

  • If you swap wheels a lot, keeping the mentioned distance consistent across wheels is a useful rule to follow; removes need to adjust derailleur limit screws each time you swap a wheel, to maintain shifting performance (because hubs from different manufacturers measure differently).
That's about the only rule fathomable relating to measurements in the highlighted area.

  • Is there any reason this might be worse than the park tools TM1?

Possible reasons would be poor initial calibration and poor retention of calibration.

  • Probably ok for relative tension, but there is no mention of a table to convert measurements to absolute tension when using non standard spokes.
    Get a Park.

  • Probably not newnew but first time ive seen them:
    revised dt swiss rims:
DT Swiss R 470 db Road Rim

DT Swiss R 500 db Cross rim

DT Swiss RR 521 db Road Rim

  • Hi all, thought I would see what advice is out there... Looking to get some new wheels built up.

    Current thoughts for hubs are:

    Hope RS4s
    Tube mig mags
    White industries T11

Anyone got any experience of the above? Are Tune/White Industries worth the extra money? Should I just break down my tubs and re-use my Mack hubs?

    Thanks

  • I've got Tune Mig/Mags on two sets of wheels. I'm impressed with them so far. Very light, and they seem pretty durable. I've used them to replace Zipp's useless hubs on a pair of Firecrest 404s.

  • Thanks for the info, have you needed to service them yet? Where did you buy them from? Getting them from Germany seems the cheapest option.

  • Not yet, but I have treated myself to the full service kit. I bought them from bike24 - normally the cheapest option by a long way. Obviously it was a lot cheaper before June 2016...

  • Well indeed... Almost forgotten what those sort odds

  • Of exchange rates were like

  • Did you find a 18h rim in the end? I'm potentially on the lookout too.

  • I have a set of Tune MIG and MAG hubs in use since 2012, once on my old cyclocrosser, and now on a newer cyclocrosser. I only have one bike, and got many kilometers on it. City, backcountry, and some little experience with off-road in the woods. Knowing these are road hubs I had some problems, but customer service and repair service was great. Here are some pics:

This problem was kind of scary, Tune told me that this was a problem with older hub versions and should be solved in all new versions:

Next problem appeared before I switched to new wider DT Swiss rims, I saw that there was a crack in the rear hub. They replaced it for the cost of shipping and made a service, this was €24,90.
