Could omnium sell you a couple of their oem 451 rims.. if they still do them?
-
• #10105
Can you locate a Sun CR-18 out there? They seem to be available still here in NA.
-
• #10106
Yep, SJSCycles has them.

Was actually in the basement today, and there's a good 5-10 of jumbos old front wheels layin around, probs just missing a spoke or old bearings etc. Come by and we'll work something out ;)

@broken_777 I think you're the go to man here - if I'm looking to get a wheelset built up for my Genesis Datum (with a 15mm axle fork) am I best to get:
a) A DT Swiss 240s "Fifteen" front hub and replace the end caps if I ever change to a 12mm fork in future
or
b) a standard DT Swiss 240s front hub with 12mm end caps and purchase a 15mm to 12mm adaptor kit for my forks
Basically just wondering if there is any disadvantage to the DT Swiss native 15mm front hub

Was getting round to that. Will see what they say today.

Newbie question sorry, I'm going to be building some 24" / 600c front wheel the rim is a Mavic CX18 and the hub is a Mavic 501 36h. I'm going 3 cross, the spoke calculator is saying I need 249.3mm spokes
I'm currently trying to buy some spokes and I can either get 249mm or 250mm. I cant get 249.3
would .3 really make much of a difference if I go for 249mm spokes ?sorry again for the newbie question.

249 is fine.

Anyone got any opinions/experience of Halo retro rims? Was going to build with archetypes but i'm having a rethink

Has anyone tried one of these 130 - 135mm axle adaptors ? Looks like you just add to the end of the axle and re-dish, not sure how secure it is... I bought some 2nd hand disc wheels and the seller decided not to mention they are 130mm, now I can't get hold of them. They are an older Novatec model and I cannot find a suitable axle replacement

Sounds like it should be ok for about a year (according to warranty 😅)
Not a frame you can squeeze 2.5mm each side?
-
• #10117
Its a steel frame so will flex enough but not that happy about it. Also can't get the indexing quite right
-
• #10118
I’d squeeze the frame over buying a little nubbin to slot in (and having to re dish the wheel!)
Re shifting could be any number of things.. have you already done some investigating?

Probably best to pass them on to somebody who actually wants a 130mm disc hub. Just a few CX frames were made that way early in disc world, and the hubs are correspondingly rare.

• #10120
Shifting is fine with a different 135mm wheels. It works ok with the 130hub just not as slick
-
• #10121
Yeah that's what I plan to do, just might not be much demand for them

Only a few people will want them, but they will really want them 🙂

I'll chuck a quick question on here. I want to sell a pair of rims but need to price them.
Planet X crabon rims. 30mm and 55mm I think (or the nearest denomination for rims). They were for ym super safe super light project a few years back that got stolen so never built the wheels. I'll never use them again either as they're tubs.
Anyone have a reasonable idea on price?

Does anyone use:
https://nabendynamo.de/en/service/spoke-length/ ?
I’ve used this for the first time (because I’m building a wheel with a Son hub). Having laced the wheel it’s clear the spokes are going to be 3-4mm too long.
-
• #10125
Yeah. I think the measurements for flange offset built into the Son calc for the Sondelux 12mm centrelock front hub are incorrect (at least for my hub).
On the disc side they’re 3mm off I think.
Yeah, not an option either. Halo does a few in 451, but they're spendy
