It comes with 25c (but they are only rubbish generic tyres you find on OTP bikes).
I'm pretty sure the frame would take 28c.
It's personal preference really, I'd never run anything wider than 23, but if you want to run wider then you can do.

I just want to have the option running wider tyres in the winter times. Maybe I get used to the 23c/25c and wouldn't change them for nothin :)

It's the 2008 that comes with 25c, sorry. either way, you'll probably change them as soon as you get it.

Would the 28c tyres fit on the Alex RPD-15 rims? Can't find any information for them.
-
• #957
I think it's quite a wide rim as road rims go, should take 23c - 30c easily.

I´ve used 28c Conti Sport Contact ever since I bought my -08 Fuji Track. Fits perfectly. I even squeezed a pair of Contact 37c (!) on there for winter, but the toe overlap got a bit scary so they weren´t on for very long...
Don´t forget to change the 16t cog for a 17t. 17 skidpatches is better than 1... -

Thanks AndreasVH! I've been into the Conti Sport Contacts as city tyres!
Think I have to order.... now... :D

25c front Gatorskins, 28c rear of Vittoria Radonneur or Top Contact.
job done.

That assumes some skidding/brakeless activity doesn't it? May not need that lead weight on the rear if no skidding.

I have an SE Lager which is the same frame underneath and run 28s on there no problem.

am i correct in saying the Fuji track comes fixed and you can attach a free-wheel on the other side ?
-
• #964
yep: http://www.fujibikes.com/Specialty/Track/Track.aspx rear hub is flip-flop.
-
• #965
but some times you can get double fixed hubs, or does flip flop mean fixed/free ?

not necessary brakeless, those size is a decent all round, 23c is zippy and responsive, but not exactly comfortable, whether I think an 25c would be a good compromise.

As far as I understand it, you can put a freewheel on a fixed hub but you can't put a fixed cog and lockring on a freewheel threaded hub. Double fixed could therefore be double free if you so chose. Some hubs I believe come with a fixed cog and lockring thread on one side and a freewheel thread on the other, this would be the fixed/free variety.
-
• #970
so does that mean you can take the lock ring off the Fuji, and its a coasting single speed?
-
• #971
no it means if you put a freewheel on the other side of the hub and turn the wheel around you can freewheel
-
• #972
although if you fancy taking the lockring off to coast please make us a video ;)

So if the 28 is for comfort then again why get a lead weight, un-supple 28 like the Vittoria?
Having just that tyre on the rear tyre would either be for lots of skidding or a wheelie tour of the country

I've never got why all hubs (geared exluded obviously) aren't fixed/fixed for this reason.

hub is flip flop, can take 28s, OH btw the gearing is insane. its 48x15.
23 is fine for city use, but if the new version is sold with 28's i imagine last year's model can fit them too. i don't think they changed the frame.
