  • Any ideas on what measurements the chainring will need to be to fit then?

  • I may not know, but I think it would be hard to find.
I am sticking with the current chainset and will replace the whole thing after a while.

  • Unfortunately I'm too much of a bike noob to work it out for myself :(

  • I know where this is going to end up:

  • Why not just buy a black frame - say BLB own brand and start from scratch.

I don't want to piss on your fire but this seems like a false economy.

  • Er.... those bikes are proper ugly, mine should hopefully be all black with 3 gold parts, no bling machine, basically the obey but minus the bars and seatpost.

And if you don't like it, with all due respect, in the nicest possible way, I couldn't give a flying fuck ;)

  • black and gold was all right,

    then the obey happened,

    then sam sparrow happened,

now people are puking all over their cocks.

    just leave it

  • stock chainring

The black/gold Obey is really ugly, (there are a few on here who do like it), but with the FTSE 100 now at 3883.36 i can see why you would melt down all your gipsy gold to make a track bike to hold up it's own against the international gold standard.

"no bling machine"??? only highly polished platinum is more bling then gold, but at least that's less kitsch. I would normally not mind what people do with bikes but this is so kitsch. (but this is a good place to ask questions, so ignore the judgemential attatudes and you'll get good advice.)

  • Well I'm not looking to impress you (manly lycra wearing) lot am I, I'll be cruising round Shoreditch getting the eye from all the impressionable vapid hipster chicks who will obviously be feeling my so unironic it's ironic that it's unironic bike and thus give themselves up to me. And whilst you lot puke on your cocks, they will hopefully be doing so on mine.....so there

that post is soooo full of fail

  • Yeah I've been posting for two days and seemed to be getting reasoned and helpful posts which is really not the done thing when a newb arrives so I had to step things up a bit to elicit the normal response. Hence much puking and fail post from myself

  • you're getting a bike so you can cruise round shoreditch getting thumb up from hipster chicks??

I don't think you'd notice this but I'd says 99% of us here ride our bike because we ride our bike.

  • Oh god, internet communication failure, it was a complete sarky piss take post, of course that isn't why I want to build up this bike, bikes = easy, cheap and fun way of A - B and that's it. Blame a weekend of mental and bodily abuse for my lack of ability to convey sarcasm right now as well as my piss poor attempt at pretending to be a hipster.

  • I'll admit it's always harder to put a sarcasitc tones in the internet without putting (!) in it.

  • sarcasm = irony

  • I give up trying to help...

    Never explain...

Yet one should always strive to accomplish it...
    LOL!!!

  • Right well, at least I've got my newbie posts out of the way now, now it's down to the serious business :)

  • Pukes on cock

  • Had a small spill on my Fuji - buckled the front wheel.

No Idea what sort of wheel I need to replace the stock part with, can you kind folks point me the right direction.?

  • 700c rim with a 100mm spaced front hub
    how hard can it be?

  • hard enough for the LBS to keep me waiting for almost a MONTH! waiting for parts.

I think it just needs a new wheel, but they are talking about new front forks and headset also.

Time for me to bail on them and do it myself (with your guys help) i think.

Wheres the best (read cheapest) place in west london I can get the stuff for my fuji this weekend?

  • er, if your LBS reckon you need new forks, then assuming they're not money-grabbing cunt merchants I recommend you listen to them.

Post a picture of the damage, let us assess.

Getting a new 700c front wheel is easier than doing a poo, so don't worry about that. However, riding with bent/buckled forks or a damaged headset may lead to another, considerably larger, spill.
