  • Guideline is about 1inch or more...

So edwardes do Fuji tracks frame only? Brand new? Used?

  • how much room should I have between tt and b*ll*cks? when standing? I'm about 5'11".

0 cms, just rest them on either side of the TT and HTFU ;)

  • Ha. some really bad advice being given here.

  • Ha. some really bad advice being given here.

I agree. Apart from mine. I was on the ball :)

  • bad advice?

  • What if you have really droopy balls? The geometry would be all out...

  • @ mumbler:) - Ha!

What is this thing with standover height as a sizing guide on here? It's utterly irrelevant.

  • ok andyp - can you advise on whether a 5'11andabit" bloke with an inseam of about 83cm would best fit a 54 or 56 fuji track? im used to mountain bikes, small ones as I race 4X and BMX, road sizing feels very weird - massive. I think using this calc (http://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit/) I'm mean to be 56 but Im so used to small frames so it feels un-nerving. Ive ridden a 56 but cant find a 54 in stock anywhere to test it out. want to order one before the 09's come in because they are really quite ugly.

  • It's hard to advise without seeing someone on a bike, but I'm 6'1" and usually ride a 58 cm (centre-to-centre) frame with a 57 or 57.5 cm top tube. I do, however, have long arms and legs which means I go up a size or so to accomodate.

There are no hard and fast rules but smaller frames have shorter top tubes which, if you are tall, can leave you all hunched up and looking like a frog on a matchbox. This is not a good look.

  • chi11i, I'm 5'11 and i just bought a fuji track 56 last week...if you want a longer ride on one then feel free to swing round mine. I live in the shoreditch area next to the george and dragon pub.

  • What if you have really droopy balls?

    Lo Pro FTW

  • cheers mumbler - i commute into LPS so that would be great, any chance of a ride on monday? can do mid morning to anytime? i work in north soho (goodge st area) if its easier to meet at lunchtime?

thanks andy - apparently i have a long top half for my height! fuji's are center to top so i might be looking at the 56 then.

  • chi11i I was making a 'good time forum gag' - no hard feelings. A little while ago asm sarted getting calls from people needing aerospokes, for no apparent reason (like, he didn't have any, nor led anyone to believe he might).

No harm in trying all the bikes you can before you part with your hard-earned. True. find a ride where you feel like you're just hanging on the frame, no undue pressure on your plams or sitbone. Most seem to have their bottom of pedal stroke at almost-straight leg. Some like a little less knee extension though.

if it's really bothering you get a cyclefit sizing up done. £40+ ish

  • ahh - no worries :)

    thanks for the advice :)

  • I work near st james park so middays are a no go... i leave at 8 and get back around 6.30...PM / email me on the day or day before if you want to set something up.

  • cheers mumbler - it'll prob be after 6.30 then mate. I'll PM you monday am.

  • Hello,

Just about to order a fuji track. Which brake do you recommend ? may even order 2 just incase i want to change to single speed.

    any recommendations then?

    cheers

    BM

  • SHimano tiagra. Only spend more if you want to.. they work fine.
Just get any dual-pivot front brake.

  • All depends how much you wanna spend.

+1 to Provenrads entry price of Tiagra's. If you can/want to spend more than Shimano 105's are good value for money.

  • Yep I three....agree with all above!!!

  • Thanks very much, ill go with the Shimano Tiagra for now....

but just to clarify, is this what you meant??? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Shimano_Tiagra_4500_Road_Brake/5360027351/

Also what leaver would you recommend for someone who dos not want their break on the drop?

Thanks again for the very fast replies!

  • This would work fine:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Tektro_FX3_Brake_Lever/5360016318/

Plus, Cane Creek Crosstop and Goldfinger are pretty popular I think.

  • Run mine with a cheap Tektro caliper and a Salsa cross-top lever.

  • another question....i am 6 / 6"1 just wondering what size frame anyone can recommend?

i can provide other measurements if needed!

    BM

  • Plenty of info if you search on here... see 'related threads' at the bottom of the linky aswell.
