I'm intrigued to see how the wheels (which are widely known to be a bit poo) stand up to my, ahem, 19 stone.
Just don't go over any bumps and you'll be fine ;)
The front wheel on my Fuji is still OK after almost 3 years, but the back started breaking spokes regularly after about a year so I went and brought a proper one.
I'm only about half your weight, mind.

Good for you, they are OK bikes.

You'll love it. I've had mine since October now I think. Loved every second of riding it.

Once I've got that I'm going to fit it and take the bike over to Brixton Cycles to get them to give my handy-work the once over before I hit the streets, also want to replace the tyres as they look like nail magnets. Plus get an 18 tooth sprocket on it to save my aging knees!
Feel free to come over and do the washing up, your Mrs said you look lovely in a pinny ;)

Brilliant! Get on it and ride. (But, yes, please tell us you have put a brake on it).
edit: d'oh too late.

Yes but only if you go for the 'hipster' option.

You will love it. Had mine about a year (2007 version, black w quill stem) - brilliant for the cash: great frame, crap wheels, cheesy but adequate components. Swap out the worst bits over the first year or two - you'll end with a nice bike and a pile of bits for eBay.

I never had any problems with the Fuji wheels, it was the bars I really had problems with. The most uncomfortable I've ever ridden.

Nightmare! I know what that feels like :/ You want to watch out though, I've waited 2 months for items listed as "stock expected in 1-2 weeks" before I've given up and gone elsewhere. I'm sure someone on here could lend you one for a while, I've got a spare front calliper myself but I'm not in london :(

Good skills on your bike - I love that Fuji colour, IMO the best looking of the off the peg bikes...
Get riding and get down to some events and rides... With a brake :P

Looks like you enjoyed the out-of-box experience. Get braked up, and enjoy the fixed ride even more.

I can thoroughly recommend Mavic openpros if you want to upgrade the wheels, I have 32h front 36h rear on miche hubs and they get the pie munchers seal of approval. mine are standing up to the abuse no problem (and the roads are not smooth round here), incidentally 21ish down to 19ish stone since september commuting to work fixed, and feeling MUCH better for it.

Good work fella! I rediscovered cycling recently (had a long love affair with it, building bikes for myself and friends when I was student some 15 years ago) both to get away from crowded, minging, public transport and to shed the unwelcome poundage. I'll bear these wheels in mind when the current ones are have had enough of the abuse!

My first ever fixed-wheel is languishing in the DHL depot in Vauxhall (they tried to deliver it on Thurs and Fri last week but yours truly was at work). Fortunately I have a mate called Dan who has a van (I can highly recommend them, everyone should have one). I feel very excited. I was going to say 'I feel like a 5 year old' but that just sounds wrong.
:)
I'm intrigued to see how the wheels (which are widely known to be a bit poo) stand up to my, ahem, 19 stone. And how many of those 19 stone start to disappear over the coming weeks. It'll be interesting if nothing else!

I've lost 6.5 stone since I started cycling again two years ago, it's a great way to loose weight.
