  • crooked wheel, dude?

  • see why your called "dammit"

  • Made sure it is dead straight in the dropouts.

    The damn things possessed!

I need a young priest and an old priest...

  • Have you done the "check and see if the chainring is flat" thing yet?

  • ah, did you flippy floppy the wheel after you got it?
did it have a freewheel on it?

if so, it could be that the wheel is not symetrical and was dished for the freewheel...........i don't fncking know!!

    it's out

  • Have you done the "check and see if the chainring is flat" thing yet?

Nope, I was hoping that swapping the sprocket would cure things.

I presume that the advised method for chain-ring flatness checking is to take the damn thing off and lay it on a flat surface?

It's never had a freewheel on it, it's the same way around as it came from the shop.

  • Flip it and see what happens?

  • no, throw it at at door ,and see what angle it sticks in at

you can tell if it's pissed, by TURNING THE FNCKING CRANKS!

  • just get a new bike, this is too much hassle

  • just get a new bike, this is too much hassle

I'm coming around to this point of view.

  • mark the level of a bathtub full of water.... submerge the wheel and mark the new water level. This will enable you to determine its mass through an equation taking into consideration the deplacement.

    Yell "Eureka!"

    Problem solved.

  • Picked up back of bike, span rear wheel, watched chainring like a hawk- appears to be flat.

  • b/b. job done, end of, finish et*blood**y*c

  • in australia (and the rest of the southern hemisphere) if you spin the cranks the wheel turns the opposite way. Its cos of the moon or summink.

  • b/b. job done, end of, finish et*blood**y*c

Despite the sprocket and the chainring being the same distance from the centre line of the bike?

  • it can't be right, it looks about 2mm out.

  • What about carefully pulling your crank further out on the spindle and spinning to see if it corrects the problem. If it does, you need a longer BB?

  • it could be that the chainring is portuguese, and the cog is brazilian. Sure, they seem like they'd work together, but they just never get on.

I've just changed the cog- now it's Japanese.

  • NJS or non-NJS? There's a difference but you can only tell when you've filled the bathtub.

  • F*ck it, I give up.

Tube and train for me from now on.

and it can't be freshwater, it needs to match the salinity of the water in the sea nearest to the place of the chains manufacture, or you'll get an incorrect reading.

What? With the wealth of advice available to you on this forum?
