Sounds like your lockring has come loose and your cog slipped, should be pretty easy to fix with a chainwhip and lockring spanner
beaten to it...

This happened on my Fuji- went hill climbing with Charco, skid stop next day and a quarter of a rotation on the rear wheel before it engaged.
You just need to tighten the lock-ring down as has already been said.
Fuji don't seem to do them up that tight before they leave the factory, or the (useless complete chunk of shit) sprocket they fit really screws itself on/compresses after a bit of riding.

I was going to say what the last caller said... but eh... I guess he just stole my thunder.

I actually swapped the cog out from the stock one, and when i did the dude in the shop had to stick it in the vice and then yank down on the wheel cause the cog was on so tight as the chainwhip and back pedaling did nothing! I've heard other people had similar issues with trying to get it off, but also some saying that it came loose while riding... i guess Fuji just ain't that consistent lol!! Since swapping i had four months perfect riding untill this :(!!
Thanks for all the help guys! I probably should invest in a chainwip and lockring tool, not just for this bike but the one i'm starting to build!!

They glue the lockring/sprocket onto the threads, nightmare to get off without a bench vice and an old piece of chain.

• #1157
wtf? i just took a pipe tonge to get off the lockring. then rotafixa for the cog. this isn't magic...

• #1158
I hope mine doesn't do this, sound worring. : S

• #1159
Dont worry....just...dont.

LBS had to remove mine with a blowtorch to melt the loctite = nearly killed my chain trying to rev rotafix it and wrote off my chain whip....

could someone please explain how I tell if my hub is flip flop or not? I want to put a freewheelcog on the other side of my fuji track if poss.
-
• #1163
if only one side has a smaller thread for a lockring then you have a flip flop

• #1164
I went for a miche one (17T), mainly because it comes with a carrier thingamy, so you can just take off the lockring and switch the cog without much fuss. Which was a good idea, because I think an 18T would have been a better idea. Took alot of force to remove the old one. I'm told the factory put them on extra tight because the hubs aren't much cop.

I got my Fuji track bike fitted for me at herne hill velodrome. They put me on a 54 first adjusted it for me and then said it was too small, put me on a 56 ,adjusted it and it fits me fine. Well its labeled Large which i think is a 56..My road bike is a Pearson Touche and thats a 54 and thats a fine as well..

I'm 6'1' and my 58 fits perfect.

6ft 2.5in and I ride a 61cm, which seems to fit well. Tried the 58cm but the seat-post needed to be stupidly long to accommodate my long legs. Rode the 61cm over to Brixton Cycles and Edwardes to get their opinions on fit and all said it looked right.

57cm would be fine, 58 better, 62 is ridiclous- better as a 5 bar gate and just as whippy too..54- you're taking the hiss out of the afflicted...

is that yours edscoble? what are those bars?? i dont like the stock fuji track drops on mine, those look nice
Those bars only look nice with that type of stem though i think? Wouldn't look right on the stock fuji stem.

Did you do the paint job yourself or get it powder coated? What about stripping the paint off? I'm new here and I know there are threads about stripping paint, just wandering if there is anyone here who has stripped a fuji track themselves, and if so, how? Your bike looks minty fresh by the way.
I stripped mine with Nitromors and it was one of the easiest frames I've ever stripped. 2 layers of liberally applied paint stripper and the paint just fell away, it only took me just over an hour.

This is/was an 07.
Treat yourself to a lockring tool / chainwhip combo. You'll be needing one if you want to keep riding fixed.
