Well I know for a fact that Beijing are getting rid of some of their venues. I don't think its that uncommon for host cities to get rid of their venues. I know that the main stadium for London is built as a mostly temporary structure - the extra bits will presumably be taken down and hopefully reused / recycled leaving a smaller and more practical stadium.

The olympic stadium itself is going to be reduced from an 80,000 capacity stadium to something around 25,000-30,000 seater..
Among the people interested are Leyton Orient FC, West Ham FC and Saracens RUFC (I only know this because I support Saracens)
Edit: From what it said in that article about the velopark though, it's going to be used as a commercial velodrome open to the public

wasteful.......Olympics........surly the two words could never go together
ha, good point
i think i was thinking of binning it, as opposed to reducing sizes and getting them used elsewhere

For those who are interested, here is CABE's report on updates to the 2012 velodrome plans. It's a bit dry and technical - and distinctily lacking in pictures - but gives you an idea of where things are going...

We should win the team pursuit again if we're putting five riders in the line

RPM, better start saving for that hamburger..
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/australian-track-national-championships-cn/day-1/resultsThe South Australian - and defending national champion in the discipline - rode the third fastest time ever in a sizzling qualifying ride over four kilometres. He posted a time of 4:14.427, knocking six tenths off the time set by Welsh cyclist Gerraint Thomas at the Manchester round of the World Cup in October last year.
It's also faster than the 4:16.304 time set by Britain's reigning Olympic Champion Bradley Wiggins during his gold medal ride in Athens.
The only rider who has gone faster than Bobridge over the distance is Boardman, who set the world record time of 4:11.114 at the 1996 World Championships in Manchester. That mark was set using the aerodynamic 'Superman' position that has since been banned, which means Bobridge is effectively the fastest rider in the world over four kilometres under the current rules. -

Nice, init.Very nice, but they wouldn't get made like that. they don't fit the corporate design rules.
No Mayoral endorsement, web address rendered in upper case, no TfL logotype... I could go on. Few tweaks here and there and they would be spot on.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/australian-track-national-championships-cn/day-1/resultsI was wondering how long it would take you.. too long.
Yeah, Bobridge is good! but where is he in his 4 year plan?
I still don't think the AUS 2012 medal haul will eclipse GB's

I don't follow cyclingnews much these days. It was only Dov mentioning a fast time at beers last night I bothered to look.

So your bunch skills have got to be there as well as speed and endurance.
Ed Clancy and Lizzie Armitstead must be in the frame for GB

You mean like this..
South Australia's Jack Bobridge has claimed his third gold medal of the week at the Australian Cycling Championships after a dominant points race performance at the Adelaide Super-Drome on Friday.
Bobridge became the second fastest man ever over 4km on his way to a win in the individual pursuit on Tuesday, and on Thursday was a member of the South Australian team that set a Championship record to win gold in the 4km team's pursuit.
And on Friday he notched up 41 points in the 40km (160 lap) race winning three of the 16 intermediate sprints and finishing second in a further seven sprints.

Yes, except against the best of the whole world, rather than a few Aussie mates.
-
• #73
Sorry, did you miss the bit about the fastest ever IP under current rules?
-
• #74
And?
Who else was in the same drome on the same night to challenge it?
-
• #75
Fastest EVER.
EVER being the operative word.
Only Boardman in the now banned superman position has recorded a faster time.
There doesn't need to be any challengers. It's an IP. He has also proven himself more than capable tactically. Anyway.. the burger will be mine..
