Temper, I saw your bike locked up on Mortimer Street near Ping Pong, the colour is better in reality!
Cheers. Its pretty bright. Hard to miss.
please don't ignore this, you will snap your frame.
Off to get a replacement this evening. Not prepared to take any chances.

I'm inclined to agree. I went through this when I was at BLB. They seemed adamant that a 56 was right despite being 6'2. I bowed down to their knowledge as this is my first road bike since about 1985 (and I've grown a bit since then). I immediately shifted the seatpost to its max height and so far haven't noticed problems. However, seatpins tend not to be as long as MTB's and as posts above suggest, I should be looking for a longer/stronger seatpin.
I can't afford to replace the frame at the moment, so will have to live with looking like a circus freak.

Look familiar?

• #7208
I'm shorter than you and ride 57/58 cm frames.

how did BLB justify a 6 foot 2 person buying a 56? genuinely interested in that conversation...

• #7210

Yeah, I do have vertically challenged legs. 33" I'd say its a tough one because I do enjoy the ride on my bike, but not enough experience of riding road bikes to say whether the geometry is FUBAR for me. Off to 14 tonight and I'll chat to them about it. See if they'll try and sell me one of their frames.

have you got a pic of yourself on the bike temper?

And what height would you have to be before they recommend a 60cm frame.......

My inside legs is exactly the same (33"), take away 10" and you'll have your frame size, an 23" (58cm) one should fit you nicely.
I'm 6'1, slighty longer legs for my body.
for now, just get a cheap long seatpost, keep the miche one when you get a frame that fit you nicely.

Isn't it full of plastic Liverpool fans though Graham?

....true
Funny you should say that, when we played them in the Uefa Cup last season the locals didn't take too kindly to 3,000 pissed up Evertonians pillaging the place

Cheers! I didn't restore the frame myself, bought it off the bay freshly re-painted and built it up slowly whilst bed-ridden after a nasty crash last year.
Nice bike, I've got a Carlton from the same year. Couple of questions -
What size seatpost did you use ?
Is the headset standard 1" threaded ? I know Carlton and later Raleigh used a non standard tpi at various times -

Is the headset standard 1" threaded ? I know Carlton and later Raleigh used a non standard tpi at various timesI had problems with the seatpost, originally thought it needed a 26mm, hard to find...got the seattube reamed and a 26.4 was fine for it.
Headset is standard 1". Didn't know that there were any other sizes apart from 1" and 1 1/8", maybe I'm wrong though.
Seen a few Carltons on the streets recently, one almost identical to mine on Brick Lane a few months ago, racing green red decals. I locked up on the same post so they could spend some quality time together ;)
