I predict carnage in the facial dept in the next couple of days...

thats interesting, I put tape for the summer as my hands start to sweat and slip off from the bars, but in winter they stay nice and dry (not even that cold as I have alu- bars).
I am often going so fast that ice builds up on the bars and I cannot grip on....:-(
Some of the above may not be entirely true.....Anyhoo, I commute about 20 to 50 miles a day in all weathers, it is just allot better all year around with tape!

yes...were you the ultimate hipster w/ the blue and pink fixie or someone else? It has clips! You can see them w/ the leather coverings. So are you talking about straps?
No, I was in there on my black tomasso with a blue frame over my shoulder which I was building up myself.

After being happily persuaded by Monsieur Cornelius Blackfoot last night outside the Sun and Doves, here's my mug and steed...
1959 Carlton Catalina
If anyone has a nice pair of 27' rims I'd be interested, gappy! -

People erroneously claim that riding brakeless and fixed without clips is dangerous. Frankly I'd say it was downright impossible! How the hell is it done? Don't you just get flung over the handlebars the first time you attempt to slow down?

I'M A MASSIVE CORPSE RAPIST.
Fixed.

It's 'possible' to put your leading foot on the underside of the pedal and pull up, instead of using the straps to pull up from a regular foot position.

What's with all these people running clips and no straps? I can't see them working very well.
-
• #7185
They won't. As SimonJ found out when he managed to snap both his off on the Bridges ride.

-

Cheers! I didn't restore the frame myself, bought it off the bay freshly re-painted and built it up slowly whilst bed-ridden after a nasty crash last year.

you can skid without clips by putting ALL you weight over the front and kicking back on your back foot (rather than pulling up on your front foot as you normally would do in a strap). same principle as a leg over skid.
as a means of slowing down... nah.

carrying a frame on your shoulder whilst riding a fixed gear is also an 'ultimate hipster' accessory.

hi temper, not sure those miche seatposts are supposed to go that high out of the seatube, check the max height mark, or it could be pretty bad for the frame.

I'm pretty sure I'm above the max mark but will go out and have another look. Thanks for the tip though.

About 2 5/8" minimum needs to be inserted into the seat tube. Or 64.5mm.
Which leaves you about 6 inches showing.

Got paid off by RBS and invested in exotic fixed gear parts?
