the rear wheel is pretty straight, done by hand without a trueing wheel (it started life a 2 lead/ 2 trail, but spokes were a margin too long, so i added the twist, came out ace!). could replace spoke in a few mins, no biggie, could even leave tyre on if nipple was OK. you need to crank in some extra tension than normal and deep v's are strong as hell so take a fair bit of tension to pull out of shape anyway ;)
the paintjob, was buy the panel repair place next to me (N19 4NP), inc a prime and sand between coats. first frame i tried, came out ok, but yeah £30 for left over metallic (can choose what they have in the cupboard) or £50 for choice.
my mugshot, is up in a previous post with my other bikes, this was an updated ;)

i think cajeta has about 8 bikes now. the really bad ones get sent to the cupboard and cannibalized for fresh meat.

fast eddy,
what are those tyres? green rubinos or paves?you can sell the tensioner, shorten the chain and use the dropouts properly, then experience a true SS drivetrain.
-
• #1293
Hey RPM, the tyres are Paves, I erally wanted old amber wall CX's but couldn't find any. I had some Open Chrono TH AW but they're too thin for city ridin'. Tried to get the Veloflex ones too, but outa stock. I like these ones though ;-) I take what you and dogsballs say about the arm but I don't like the empty hanger thread thing going on. Also can you get 1/2 link in 3/32? Did you check the Criterium bars, drilled lugs+my favourite, the QoH?

SkullheadWilderness
Nice !
Is that a 650c front wheel - or just a weird camera angle?
-
• #1297
yeah i like the Chater Lea chainset skullhead. good work dude.
-
• #1298
is that brooks honey leaher bar tape skullhead? i was really dissapointed in the colour fastness when i last used it. i would strongly recommend a faux leather alternative next time. brooks tape is pap.

oh, but lovely bike by the way, i've two conversions on the way, an old sun and a metropole. nice to see a good cottered crank.

Cheers for nice comments you people. Almost as nice as riding it... what a lovely morning I've had coming to work today. Just found some pale tan (slightly wrong coloured) MKS straps, so much better than shite nylon ones.
Matt. Cheers. looking forward to seeing your works-in-progress. I really want a cotterpin press though, (I have been trawling on ctc to see if anyone can sell me one) highly recommended (with the benfit of hindsight) in place of hammering the fuck out of your chainstay paint and BB races!
I have had nothing but nice experiences with both types of brooks leather tape myself. What's not to like about it? this is the newer kind with holes punched in it, maybe you had the plain stuff which seemed slightly different to me? The honey colour has stood up well, but maybe that's because I proofided it immediately, which has made it darker and a bit shiny, which it wasn't to start with.
Tynan- yeah REALLY dodgy pic, wheels are both 27'' x 1/14" (new old stock Weinmanns, 70's I think, from freshtripe).
jonny.. cheers! I couldn't resist ePaying (thru the nose I'm afraid to say) for the the CL chainset... replaces the old pinless williams set. The old ring was lovely and light but I bent the fucker in about a week of riding when me chain came off (I wasn't used to not being able to back pedal with the slighty freaky but pretty Benelux 5speed setup). The guy who swapped the williams set for some CL chainrings (including a rareish 3'32'') with me was confident he could hammer it back straight ish, so everyone was happy. It wouldn't have stood up to fixed riding though it was so light.
Hope to ride it on the Aus day night ride if you want to have a go.
The £30 blue/green, was it via a sprayer or DIY?
