I think he says he has been effected by cancer so don't talk to him about cancer.
From Lances response in that video, cold, calm and calculated, you can tell he is bordering on psychotic

Well, Clint, you could start by acknowledging LeMond's comeback from a near-fatal shooting? Or is recovering from a shot-gun blast and returning to win the tour not life-affirming enough for you? :)
i've mentioned once or twice already what a great rider he was. comeback acknowledged for the record

WA, I do agree with a lot of what you say on Armstrong, but FYI clintsmoker is a very sound guy in person. There's a point of disagreement here; why not concentrate on that rather than get personal? I'm sure that if something comes out to convince him, he'll be good enough to take that on board, just as the rest of us should if we found we had been wrong on it.
and a sound guy on here too oliver :D
wingedangel , cross the anger bridge and come over to the friendship shore

Not directly concerning Armstrong, as he wasn't expected to ride, but ...

And i'm glad lance is making lots of money because there is lots of money in cycling and at least it's going to the rider, almost makes your socialist heart weep with pride that the guy mainly responsible for doing the hard work is getting rewarded.
Define 'lots' of money. It's not a lot compared to most other sports, as Cycling relies heavily on sponsorship without having other things such as gate reciepts or tv money. The big names earn into the millions, but domestiques earn a lot lot less - especially considering their profession will only last into their mid thirties.
Not really socialism is it ?
-
• #614
Yeh, the guy doing the work getting the money, that's capitalism.
The domestiques probably have something to say about who's doing the work, though.
-
• #615
well under communism i'm sure every rider would earn exactly the same regardless. in fact money would cease to exist in its current form as all people everywhere would no longer need to buy things etc etc ( i didn't invent that gush, some twat called Marx did)
I'm not going to define 'lots of money' because you know exactly what i mean. i'm sure the domestiques understand the payment system. if not then i'll give them a brief synopsis. money comes into sport from sponsor because of big name riders. big name rider gets more money than you. if you want more prove yourself to be a better rider. there done.
there are many examples in sport of the participants making the money that is available and not the owners. football for one. I know socialists don't like this state of affairs but then who cares it's fairly obvious that's the way the vast majority want it to be. -
• #616
The vast majority are sedated and doing as they're told.
-
• #617
Tim, the vast majority don't think or care
-
• #618
money comes into sport from sponsor because of big name riders. big name rider gets more money than you. big name rider suddenly becomes massive liability and you don't get invited to the Vuelta. sponsor and other riders wonder what the hell is happening. team manager declares war on race promoters etc etc.

• #619
You forgot the lawsuits and the character assasinations.

Not really, interested to hear what you think 'lots of money' is.
i'm sure the domestiques understand the payment system. if not then i'll give them a brief synopsis. money comes into sport from sponsor because of big name riders. big name rider gets more money than you. if you want more prove yourself to be a better rider take your preperation as ordered by the big name (which comes out of your pay packet), while hoping for scratchings from the top table after you've slogged your guts out and come out the other end a mental and physical wreck there done.
Edited for correctness.

I'm not going to define 'lots of money' because you know exactly what i mean. i'm sure the domestiques understand the payment system. if not then i'll give them a brief synopsis. money comes into sport from sponsor because of big name rider-so called because they have bullied, doped to the max and cheated better than anyone else, winning off the back of other riders in their team. big name rider pressurises you to dope too in order to give him the best chance of winning, makes you pay for the privilege, and still gets much more money than you. if you want more prove yourself to be a better rider than him, he assasinates your character and makes sure you cannot ride in the front group if you then criticise him or switch teams. When eventually you do win something and are caught for doping as per the master did, you are promptly ostracised and blocked out of the sport, with rumours of mental illness and blackmail spread, lawsuits threatened for daring to question the fairness of this system, there done..fixed

damn i forgot lance was such an evil bully and forgot to factor that in to my sports economy model. if only lance would leave the sport, then everything would be so much better.

i found this Cavendish quote a while back and was not sure if it is fact or urban legend
"No, I won't let it. Lance Armstrong won seven Tours, that's 147 days of racing, and he never had a puncture or a mechanical. You can really minimise your chances of a mistake if you do everything right," link
although I will never have the talent and class of LA I will aim for less punctures
