ha. Priceless. Reminds me of this spoof that went around ages ago:
-
• #4328
That's brilliant - hadn't seen it before. Reckon the film should be good.
-
• #4329
I saw the film yesterday & there were some interesting points discussed afterwards with the director.
ALOT of people were making money off of Armstrong & did it lead to a cover up that went far deeper than just his team. People in the US suddenly took an interest in cycling, which wasn't there before and his profile helped turn the industry in the US into a billion $ one...people didn't necessarily want that to end.

Was that the Alex Gibney documentary? Sounds like it'd be an interesting double bill with the The John Hodge film once it's been made.
-
• #4331
Blimey - that link up there suggests there's three separate films about him being made or in the pipelines. I wonder if he get's any image rights or whatnot from them?!
-
• #4332
^ i was wondering the same thing.
As the Armstrong lie has a lot of footage from a documentary that the filmmaker had sold lance on making by following during him during the tour - I wonder what the contract looked like. Did they pay him back then for the footage they recorded - or does he get a slice of the film earnings now?
I just want to know before I spend any money on seeing it as I would not want the king if cuntdom to get some monies out of it. -
• #4333
^^^ Yes, it was the Alex Gibney documentary.
I'm sure Armstrong's making money from these films. He's got so many lawsuits against him, he would need to be bringing in money from somewhere & he doesn't come across as a guy who would give anything away for free.

That Trainspotting spoof is spot on.

Revenge served most admirably Greg Lemond.

• #4336
Tell it as it is... not sure "revenge" is the right word.
-
• #4337
^indeed. Lemond was also fairly scathing in that long interview with Kimmage published in 2r. I think he said that LA's mum asked him how she could 'stop him being such an arsehole'!
In film news here's Ben Foster as LA in the John Hodge /Stephen Frears film being made now...

Cancer specialist outlines new method to detect doping.
It can be affirmed that doping substances like these are substances that can be used experimentally in a laboratory to produce cancers and cardiovascular illnesses. They are substances that help to create cancer.

Don't they use EPO in the treatment of Cancer patients post-radiotherapy?

One thing I'm sure of, that while Lance is a douche, he didn't create the toxic environment of the peloton. And while his bullying and general aggression is/was loathsome, he strikes me now as the tethered goat, someone made pariah while the others that did it with sidled quietly through a paltry six month ban and into administrative or coaching roles in the sport.
Indurain gets a stage in this year's Tour to honour him, no-one wants to take Pantani's Tour win away from him posthumously, Lance's accomplices get a rap over the knuckles. the book gets chucked at Lance. I do think some balance is needed, it's getting to the point I almost feel sorry for him.
-
• #4345
^ Sort of this.
However he is a loathsome cunt who deliberately went gunning for those who challenged him and has so far denied everything until a stage managed confession and a subsequent PR campaign wriggling to attempt to twist himself into the position of victim.
I'd only begin to feel sorry for him if he told his story openly and honestly before talking about the others. I just don't think he has got it in him to be honest enough to win even some of my respect.

Love how Armstrong wants everyone to be treated "fairly". He is actually calling for a "level playing field".
Why now? How about treating those that you sought to destroy fairly? How about apologising to those whose lives you wrecked?
-
• #4347
There may be other cunts around. But he is a massive one none the less.

Don't.
He was the instigator, just look at the USADA charge sheet. Others may have doped, like him, but he was the driving force behind a widespread conspiracy to facilitate team wide doping across a ten year period. That's why his sentence was harsher.

He still manages to sound like a completely self-centred prick.

Tygart said he felt "compassion" for Armstrong and his family as he was really "no worse" than a lot of other riders. But "he was the one that won, obviously. He was the one that profited the most," Tygart said.
Sums it up to a certain degree.
