^ not a fantastic interview; he comes across as a little confused. Not helped by the delay in the link-up.

^ This.
I watched it last night as I was trying to get to sleep (HARDtalk usually does the trick). I don't think he came off well or particularly contrite, just quite bitter.

Hamilton comes across very well in his new book, i am only on chapter 4, but he seems like he is telling the truth with accurate account of doping, it was almost as if he had no choice if he wanted to compete as a GC rider! He still suffered as much but could just go harder for longer, & importantly recover quicker! -

I think the programme hobbles itself by being called Hardtalk, the interviewers end up as ersatz Paxmans, confrontational and aggressive even when the subject is not being evasive. They could interview Alan Bennett and make it sound like Judgement At Nuremburg.
It also showed up the problem you have when an interviewer knows little or nothing about the person they are talking to or the world they come from. He wasn't able to go beyond questions that Hamilton has been asked dozens of times before or deal with any subtleties in what Hamilton was saying. Perhaps that serves an equally uninformed audience but more than anything I though Hamilton looked bored. -

Ha! Bored, yes!
You're right about the interview technique too Will.
I felt sorry for Hamilton actually. He didn't speak fondly of his time in the sport. In fact IIRC, he said it was the 'darkest period' of his life :(

Im just wondering what lances next move will be...
-
• #1910
He'll carry on with his charity work, maybe have a mid-life crisis, during which he'll confess/whistlebow/ask for forgiveness and sympathy, then go on to write another autobiography about those 'dark' times.

nah.
I don't like him but he's a tough mother fucker-I reckon he'll just cash in his chips and move to Hawaii or some tax haven and just say 'fuck you guys, WINNER IS ME' before cocking his snoot one last time and downing a cocktail of HGH and EPO to prolong his new found power-walking career in which he is dominating all comers and fighting bunions and fungal toe-nail infections.

'Mince those bunions away with Lance, today!'

'It's not about the shoes.'

^ I thought both snoot and snook were correct.
-
• #1917
Well, snoot will become correct if enough people make the same mistake :-)
-
• #1918
I cock my snoot at your prediction
-
• #1919
It's a very odd expression either way!
-
• #1920

today seems to be the day for the internet's finest pedantry to come to the fore.
And yet no real provenance for either...
