Tony Martin out of the tour and london with a broken collar bone
That's a rumour, not fact.
It appears that it is his wrist that is injured and the team will decide in the morning if he starts or not.

So who is using TB-500?

As I understand it the result today means the stage will be officially reclassified as a 'chipper'.
Bad luck for Chris Froome too, losing 1'20" because of a puncture. -

Rogers getting caught up in that crash and Froome's puncture meant the Sky train fell apart but EVB was still up there and Wiggins rode well on his own, good job all round. Respect to Goss for taking the intermediate sprint ahead of Cav and Griepel, lays down a marker, got a feeling Cav will spend his tour as a stowaway on the Orica-Greenedge train, along with Renshaw. I think Lotto and Griepel fluffed their lines today tho
On today's showing Sagan has got to be early favourite for Green

Fingers crossed for Tony Martin. Team anti-heros need his skills.

Good to see Cav going for the sprint
and losing it to Goss. :)

what's with his winning salute? The chicken dance?
His salutes are getting weirder and weirder..
Good on him for getting a stage in this 4th cat chipper though

If you haven't already found it.. have a look at TweeterSagan parody on twitter. Classic stuff.

Suckage.
I've started to like him now that he's been off form and is a bit of an underdog. -

Prefer the 303..

Favourite quote from Robert Millar, on Wiggins:
His biggest worry is falling off in the first week. He looks so thin that he won't bounce.

And so begins three weeks of even less productivity and bike website checking than normal.

Cav looks so tiny this year, like a hobbit or something. I am not at all convinced that he won't end July with neither green nor gold.

His success is down to a combination of timing, and acceleration. I'm not sure he needs to be 'big' to maintain these. Back when his main opponent was big Thor, I read a comment about his size and ability to get low being desisive against such a big guy. Feck knows if thats true though.

cavs success is due to his low profile and has been despite relatively poor 'numbers'. however if you lose power you lose power. I dont think he will win today but i really hope he does.

Why exactly did cav lose 4kg? For the Olympic road race? For Box hill?
So having less weight to climb would mean less power to sprint which his body is better designed for. Seems a strange decision which may mean he loses out in all disciplines -
• #295
i agree. also box hill is quite a long way from the finish which is completely flat. Wouldnt he be better of just being his old self and relying on his team to bring the break back? Does he think he is going to get in a break? i cant see that happening
-
• #296
I don't think it's for the Olympic road race directly. I assumed to was so he can stay in the peloton through more this year's grand tours, in the hope he'll be less wasted afterwards?
Shedding weight for repeats of Box Hill doesn't seem to me to make sense. It's neither steep nor long enough.
Any news on Tony Martin?

• #297
why doesn't he just eat loads of food after box hill then he'll be back to his fighting weight ?

Some great stuff about Sagan and podium girls and the yellow helmet horror...
That's a shame and takes a big player out of the two big ITTs to come
