I like the SKS, they're tough enough; get them with the Berthoud hardware.
Sermon over. -

The PDW have similar coverage as the Longboard, but not sure whether it got a channel to drain the water away, unlike SKS mudguards (side splash are a nightmare with SKS).
Need to check it out to replaced the shitty SKS on my fixed wheel bicycle.

Good evening all, I was thinking about getting the impressively named BBB road protector rear mudguard. I quite like the fact it's easily removable, but am wondering if it gives decent coverage. obviously, I'm not expecting full mudguard coverage/performance.
I was just wondering if anyone here has used them?

Like all clip-on mudguard, they work to keep your arse dry, at least.

Cheers ed, was just wondering if it was crap or not.

Quick question, does anyone know if the crud roadracer mudguard works with 28mm tyres?
-
• #987
Yes. Maybe. Possibly. But it'll be tight.

Cheers JB (I will not say 'that's what she said')

Get a daruma, that way you can snug the fender right up to the underside of the fork.
It hangs from the brake bolt inside the fork crown. -

Just bend the mount that would hit the bottom race a bit forward so it points over the bolt/brake.

^^ or cobble one from a stainless eye bolt

Bought some SKS Chromoplastic Road Mudguard Set 700x20-28 Narrow Black - 35mm Width from wiggle; first impressions very solid compared to the race blades i'd used and broken previously.
A couple of snags: I offered the front guards up to the forks and realised I don't have eyelets on the forks... doh! cable tied for now (surprisingly solid) but p clips on order. They need a bit of modification for a better fit as a bit too much/ uneven clearance in places and I hadn't factored in the additional toe overlap once fitted and have nearly taken a couple of tumbles waiting at lights. Not sure how I'm going to get the rear wheel off (brute force probably) if I puncture with horizontal drops: worry about that when it happens.

I recently bought some Portland Design Works mudguards to replace the SKS ones I have used for the last few years.
Very smart, very well designed and do a great job of keeping the spray at bay. I got the wide (45mm) ones which cover my 30mm tyres perfectly.
First ride today and no rattles and relatively dry despite the rain. The front guard certainly keeps road spray off my feet!

Brilliant to know, the side spray is what annoyed me greatly about the SKS design after getting used to the GB one.
Will order them up when I can.

Quick question, does anyone know if the crud roadracer mudguard works with 28mm tyres?
No, in my experience. Fitted 28 duranos to my genesis day one a few months ago and I now can't use my road racer guards.

1+ 25mm is already tight as it is.
The PDW's seem more solid, but spray coverage is the main issue for me.
