Are there any guard options that pivot up so that when I have to wheel my bike on just the back wheel to get it in and out of the slalom course we call a bike shed the guard pivots out of the way but then when in use it gives full cover on the rear wheel?
Likewise the front, I want it long to protect my feet but the racking is the kind where you drop your front wheel in and a long guard gets fucked up.
PS. the shed and racks are communal so I cannot alter these. There is not enough romm to walk beside the bike when putting it in and out of the shed. I lock at the back of the shed because the last time they were cleared out the thieves got halfway down and didn't touch any bikes, even the unlocked ones, at the back. I don't mind unclipping something but don't want to fuck about with tools or realigning things.
I have considered cutting up an SKS and trying to hinge it with maybe a sliding metal retaining bracket on the outside but my engineering skills are second to my desire to support people who have already developed the right product for me.

Looks like its time to get the mudguards put back on the Ribble.
Since taking them off for the summer, I've popped some 28mm Rubino Pros (had 23mm Gatorskins on there before). The guards definitely wont go on with them on so I'm going to need to buy some narrower tyres for the winter.
Does anyone know if 25's will cut it or am I going to have to go down to 23's?
I don't really want to find out by having to buy twice.

Anyone heard of musguard yet?
Just got email confirmation that mine has been shipped. Looks pretty cool and a good idea so thought I would show some support. Hopefully it saves my boxers getting soaked.
Look like it'll be a bit shit, anything that's flexy will end up being a hindrance when people try in vain attempt to make sure they don't look like a normal person with a clip-on mudguard.

Anyone have any ideas on good mudguards for larger 45-48c tyres?
It's for winter mode on this bike (accompanied with some nobblies):
I think the SKS Velo 55's could be ideal with some modification:
Cheap at under £15 a pair but not the most attractive.
Any other suggestions?

The front might fit, but the rear definitely won't with that clearance.

Good point Mr Scoble, thanks. There's room in those track ends for another couple of half links though so I think it'll be okay.

maybe one more link give it a bit more room, but still quite tight.
If necessary, you can cut off the clip, trim it a bit, drill a hole and use cable tie.

Yeah, that'll do it I'm sure. Bodging is all part of the fun of mudguards right?

If you're going bodge you may as well go ghetto!

Anyone had any experience with tokyo fixed own brand Alu guards? Are they as long as honjos? Mounting system looks different.

they're really good, but as with all metal fenders they're loud. the mounting system is great, but for the bit that goes around the rear brake hole, make sure you clamp this tight and put some elec tape between the thingy and the mudguard to mimise rattling

if they're loud, you're doing it wrong.

Yeah, my GB guards aren't noticeably noisy on anything but loose gravel. I used the VO leather washers on installation thought which probably helps

SKS Commuter, or SKS Bluemels?
Or any other suggestions for full guards as cheap as realistically possible, to fit on a 27" frame running 700c wheels.

The other option (and expensive) is the PMW one which have a nice gunmetal look to it.
Link?

Does anyone in the world make a full carbon fork with mudguard eyes that's designed for short drop brakes?
If not where can I buy the eyes from and attach myself?
