To anyone I inadvertently annoyed with starting this thread, my bad
Putting 'mudguard' in the search gave me these threads
**For Sale: Fastboy Fenders STUBBY Wood Mudguard
Offered: Rear Push Bolt on Placcy Mudguard
Fixed frame with mudguard mounts?**
adding another 's' gave me the magical thread started by Teenslain.
:p

going to work with a bike without mudguards is just pointless,
especially if you have no facilities for showering at work.mudguard improve my cycling experience... even if the road is just wet, but not raining, u can stay clean.
meaning you can cycle to work in the clothes u intend on wearing for the day.+1 for muguards :)

i bought sks copies from (whisper) halfords last year in a fit of practicality after the 10th time i'd been soaked through to my pants in a month. They were unfeasibly shit and hardly even fitted at all. I only saved about a tenner but am about to buy the sks raceblades that i should have bought to begin with. In other words, don't even think of saving a few quid and buying the copies, they're shit.

I have a mudguard but it's only there to protect my shiny new Brooks saddle.

Definitely don't buy the cheaper versions of the sks race blades, I bought some Acor ones this weekend (£19.99 folks!)and they fit with some kinda huge black plastic thing with plastic grub screws. Rubish!! it takes about 20 minutes to fit them and the threads in the plastic screws wear out almost immediately and if your tubes are tapered they slide down.
My mate bought the sks ones and the fitting is so much better and so worth the extra tenner and seems designed to be taken on and off at whim, whereas mine are made to stay really. -

Race Blades are SKS's shittest offering. If your clearances are that tight, a soggy arse is what the frame designers would've wanted.
Full length SKS guards are superlative.
Hey, Sano - I wasn't upset by this thread. It brought out the caring side of me. The side that used to offer communication support to learning disabled children ;)
