raceblades suck balls. SKS full guards and p-clips. Or a winter bike!

+1 on the SKS. Just fitted mine last week after that proper soaking.
Skully, top tip, those metal rods are lethal.
One problem, on the front, the rods are so long they hit my down tube - i'm still trying to find good pair of bolt cutters to get through them.

If you have to chop any stays down don't forget to file them off and use those rubber ends to prevent this sort of thing happening to your shin:
ha
I have 3 identical 2" scars on my right shin, a few mm apart.
top tip: araldite them on.

@playswell
I have some bolt cutters that do the job OK. I never actually see you these days so I wouldn't know here to bring them, but let me know if you wanna use em. -

Htfu and use piece of cardboard folded to create temporary mudguard; they're free.

Or ask an estate agent for a 'sold' sign, they must have them backing up.

Used one of the free rags as a temporary arse protector, much to the "vendor's" annoyance and bystanders' amusement.
Thinking of getting me some stainless steel guards, just gonna have fun fixing them, maybe some cable ties, that'd look pretty sweet.

I got one of these. Works a treat and keeps most of the crap off my back.

anything is good but those clips on are still nothing compared to a full rear mudguard. A full rear mudguard keeps your back, bum and rear of legs dry. When I ride in the wet I am completely dry on the rear and only wet on the front from riding into the rain. Makes a big difference to comfort. Each to their own though, some people don't mind the wet bum, back legs.

@ tomasito - I did do a fucking search, it came up with three things which yielded nowt.
I've done the temporary bottle jammed into the rear bridge and it's just crap.
I'm thinking one of those extendable, removable jobbies FTW

Dude, that was a little jest on my part - i suppose a winky-smilie might have helped. The thread I was thinking of is this: http://www.londonfgss.com/thread642.html The conclusion there seemed to be that SKS are the best, and it looks like that same conclusion has been reached here.

hahahahaha (that was evil, smug and dry-arsed laugh btw)
i got the timing of my raceblade sssspurchase just right this year. was asking questions about them on here in september. bought them in early october. fitted them immediately and the very night i put them on, went out to the pub in the first cold soaking of the year. prefekt.
mwoohahahaha!
if the front one fits i think you'd be daft not to fit it too. keeps a lot of spray off my feet and legs.
only issue for me is that already slight toe-overlap is now pretty severe so i have to be careful about keeping my tootsies out of the way of the front wheel, especially when pulling away or low speed manouvering. got used to that pretty quick tho. they stay in place more or less and i've had a dry bum all autumn.
happy +1 from me

Sometimes, when I read threads like these, it's as if the forum is not frequented by people who've been riding bikes for ages.
Maybe nursery members should be forced to join bikeradar for a couple of weeks, and then take a test on bicycle basics.
Ignore me.

Hmmm.
Thanks for the input, people who actually tried to help.

I've said SKS and other acronyms elsewhere.
Look, you just made me say it again.

Some sort of Arspok and mudguard combination would surely make it onto Bikesnob...Do it!
One of these on the back, SKS X3, removable. I don't bother with the front.
