How to put mudgards in track dropout -
• #1103
Skinniest, blackest, lightest mudguards I can put on my Genesis? I've currently got wide SKS mudguards and they do the job fine but I don't really like how they look.
I've been impressed with the look of the Curanas on Dammit's bikes, are they the forum favourite at the minute?

If you want mudguards that don't offer very good coverage, then yes.
If you want mudguards that work, get SKS longboards. Or get some Giles Berthoud's and get them sprayed black.

Pfft, function - who needs it?
They do work, they just don't work as well as a set of guards that wrap further round the wheel.
I have, for some reason, four pairs of brand new mudguards in my hoard at the moment.

• #1106
Are they curanas? are you looking to sell?
-
• #1107
One pair of Salmon Profil, one pair of 30mm hammered somethings, and two pairs of Curana - however, those last two are spoken for I'm afraid.

Please let me know before Amey if that changes!

PDW Full Metal Fender as V&N mentioned would look boss, perhaps replacing the steel stay with the GB alu (can be brought from SKS) might reduced weight further.
The Hammered one Dammit mentioned I think is likely to be Velo Orange which is pretty light, and would again, look boss when anodized (or powdercoated black).
Having said that - no point in making it lighter, it make no difference whatsoever.

Weight isn't a huge concern anyway, the Equilibrium is never going to be a light bike, but I didn't want anything hugely chunky that was going to add a lot of weight. I rode with someone with PDW guards last weekend and they are really nice - but a bit pricey.

If it's already heavy, what does an extra 450g gonna make?
-
• #1114
Heavier. Come on Ed, this is easy stuff.

Now that i've missed the GB deal from planet x the only cheap choice is TF import from kinoko .. any experience? Or should just get chrmoplastics?

Specialized Plug & Play. Black Aluminium guards.

They look really good actually, decent shout. Bound to be cheaper than the PDW or Curana too, and Specialized trade prices are very generous.

Was about to mentioned it's mudguard mount designed only for Specialized bicycle but read this;
Supports “Plug and Play” frame mounting for direct fender-struts frame attachment
Includes additional hardware for standard frame mounting -

They are too wide for my forks so I'm considering other options. You can have mine for the £40 that I paid?
-
• #1121
How wide are they?
-
• #1122
38mm

I have SKS Thermos on my Pomp and the front one is always rubbing, I think it's because the guard is nipped in so as to fit under a brake thus reducing the width by at least a few mm for around an inch. I've seen SKS guards that aren't like this though, anyone know if it's a case of Thermos being nipped, other models not or certain widths having the feature others not?

Hi can anyone recommend a set of mudguards for a bike with almost no clearance under the rear brake. I put on schwable marathon plus tires on my commuter bike and now there is no space at all under the rear brake, not even the crud mk2 mudguards. Not sure what the best mudguards would be long but most importantly doesn't rattle at all. Thanks

SKS Raceblade Long
Afraid not- not here anyway, my Mecanno is probably in the loft.
I imagine that they still sell it though, find a toy-shop?
