I believe its all the same mounting gubbins as velo orange - available here with fitting instructions http://freshtripe.co.uk/Freshtripe/Mudguards%20%26%20Racks.html
I would strongly advise paying a shop to do it for you unless you want a frustrating 3 hours

Fitted GBs to my lad's new Isla 26" affair. Was a piece of piss. And the bike looks flippin awesome.

Good to hear, I'm picking mine up this Saturday. Ordered from Liberté Cycles (they had some 650B in stock, allegedly) they took ages to be sent, and FedEx have been useless. Still considering a powdercoat, as the frame and most of the kit is black, so the silver guards will clash a bit. Anyone got pics of painted mudguards of another colour than the frame?

now that I have full guards people without them spraying road water all over me really gets my goat

what size bolt do sks use for the fork crown? is it M8?
-
• #1085
I'm really pleased with these Tortec Chromo Tec guards, especially for the price. Seem near identical to most SKS guards in construction and mounting hardware, and the rear bridge attachment has super handy channels that mean you can zip tie it to bikes without a brake drilling

• #1086
Could you not drill a hole underneath it and mount it with a bolt instead?

GBs could be a bit of a squash, perhaps.
SKS are your friend.
Or how about Honjo, they do a narrower one than GB, right?
-
• #1089
Honjos are a bit pricey, I'm only considering GB as they are relatively cheap at the moment.
Supposedly the GBs are 40 wide, but thats the only dimension I can find. I'd ideally like a cross-sectional drawing but I don't think that will happen.

Ahem yeah I justlooked - £90! What about VO do a 35 ish one, should be a bit easier to get under your brake with room for the calipers to move.
Then again, we spend £90 on a saddle, why not mudguards?
-
• #1091
also check out the kinoko own brand. they have great coverage and are cheap for full metal mudguards

I'd rather get a bit wet than have a tattered arse. Also note I ride a spoon.

I could, but this is perfectly secure and much less hassle.

25mm tyres with 35mm mudguard will fit fine, just go for the SKS.

Fitting some GB to an old MTB. I'll need to use L brackets to attach to the back of the fork and the rear brake bridge. GB kits are £5 each plus P&P which is dumb and the front would not work due to the L-bracket being too short on the upright.
Where in London has a good selection of little bits of metal and bolts etc..?
I think I need two L-brackets (25x25mm and 25x40mm), 4 Domed M4x10mm bolts, 4 washers and 4 non-slip nuts

Can you use the bolts and plates from the similar velo orange guards available at freshtripe as posted above?

Clerkenwell Screw from the top of my head.

The upright part of the L is not long enough for the front, hence me wanting to go get it all in one place.
I'm trying to avoid doing something like this bloke.

Would a small mecanno kit and a vice provide the brackets, then your spares box for the bolts?

I reckon that would work nicely actually. Do you gots?
so I bough the cheap Gilles Berthouds from planet X but now need the rest of the mounting hardware it seems as it only came with the bits to attach stays to forks/dropouts. I know I need this and this but unsure of how to attach from mudguard to fork. It's going on a Tokyo fixed wide open so will be caliper brakes. I'm sure I could bodge the rear mounting bracket to fit the front but would like something a bit neater. Ideally some sort of bunk that fits in the forks and then mudguard would bolt to that. Does such a thing exist?
tldr: how do i fit a gilles berthoud front mudguard to forks?
