Yeah man, nothing they can do, and I didn't know about the 10 year warranty if you register the product until it was too late (more horseshit, you either do a 10 year warranty or you don't)

^ Might this work in your favour?
E.g. As a high value brand (compared to "5quidsaddleco ltd") their product should be expected to last longer under reasonable use.
Warranty registered or not they're implying the product should be good for beyond 10yrs.
Might be worth taking it higher within Brooks complaints dept and ask for discounted replacement, reflecting that you had some happy time of use before it failed.
Problem though is burden of proof is on you... can you find other examples of similar fails after similar use?

Surprising they couldn't do anything or were not more helpful.

Those saddles haven’t been around for ten years so it clearly hasn’t lasted properly.

I picked up an old (1937-1954) Brooks B15 for cheap and although it is very dry, it appears sound and hasn’t been tensioned. I’m going to attempt to document making it useable again ....currently, after allowing it to dry at room temperature for a couple of days, after it has been left outside in all weathers for an unknown time!

I had 2 stretch/wear unreasonably after a few 1000 mile, we are a brooks stockist so contacted extra the UK distributor and they sent them back to brooks for replacement tops, no quibble, just provided my proof of purchase.
It’s a known issue that the tops wear out too fast especially on the early ones - I didn’t know about registering for 10 year warranty either, probably too late for me now.
I wouldn’t be satisfied with that response.

Is this the "All Weather" C17 or the standard one? I was gonna try a cambium but this isn't the only story I've heard about them wearing out prematurely, and I'm not sure what the difference between the standard and all weather is

The all weather uses plastic components in place of metal (still has metal rails), and has a woven polyester top rather than woven cotton - hopefully harder wearing. I’ve got a couple of each, using an all weather on my commuter at the moment not done enough miles on it to confirm increased durability.
The more recent batches of standard C17 seem to have extra coating of shiny stuff which is helping extend the wear.

FYI my one that broke was the standard one, I’ve replaced it with an all-weather one. I’d moved on but now i know it’s a known issue I might ping off some more moany emails, can’t hurt!

It’s now had two weeks and three good applications of proofhide and has perked up considerably! A couple of the rivets have some issues though, and there is some cracking around a couple, so I have decided that rather than ride it and have it split, I would replace with oversized rivets..... it should be rideable afterwards.

I thought noise was a feature of all Brooks saddles.

I’m pooking to upgrade to a C13 carved and just need to double check my seatpost will be compatible.
I have a Bontrager XXX post, and these are what they offer .... https://www.sigmasports.com/item/Bontrager/Oversized-7-x-10mm-Seatpost-Rail-Ears/8544?co=GBR&cu=GBP&glCountry=GB&id=379876&gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAiAiJPkBRAuEiwAEDXZZSVKovHZJzhLB-l1Qm8SLgmDhVId5HxsJ6n5Jt-IgYOrA-lkVhNq5xoCLvMQAvD_BwE
Brooks list the C13 rails at 9mm ovalised and the Bontrager clamps 7x10mm. Will this fit properly?
-
• #316
Nope! 9.5mm too, ti parts make a separate clamp for the c13 (bronpton clamp)

Anyone know what the narrowest brooks leather saddle is?

Can anyone tell me if these are genuine or fake? Old saddles I’ve picked up, both with a different to usual brooks badge on the back. One was bought as a swallow but had a weird bridge in the middle which made it quite inflexible; the other is a b66. Not that fussed if they’re real or some kind or knock off but interested to know the story behind the different badge.
