Actually I stopped it half way (well probably a bit more than half way) through and didn't bother with the rest.

You're probably right though. In a pub with a load of cyclist friends I'd probably love it. Alcohol has done stranger things to me in the past.

perhaps mash is just really a bunch of ppl riding bikes on roads. but one could easily slippery slope that one into saying "and yeah, dudes on skateboards are just dudes on skateboards riding the road, and guys on foam planks are just riding the ocean, and girls on carbon fiber wafers are just riding the snow." as boring as a dvd of joggers jogging would be, isnt part of the entertainment the spirit? ie, you get pumped? ive spent years watching skate vids (well, probly about 8 months, if you total it all up) and then promptly going skating.

besides, the real point of differentiation is, yeah. theyre doing what im doing.

but they have a sound track.

Not really. I've never been snowboarding but I'd quite happily sit and watch a video of it. I've never really been a skateboarder (well only a little) but I've seen hundreds of skate videos.

I just found it lacking in content or stuff that impressed me.

i was conned into watching as my mate said it was a "documentary" just loads of guys with white arrospok trying to make there fiddy dorrah but i enjoyed it anyway (much like watching a skate vid just made me want to try some of the stuff, not the careening into traffic tho)

oh dont get me wrong i enjoyed it but i felt dirty because i enjoyed it, i convinced myself i was "learning about the culture" not watching bike porn

Surely the first skate videos were a let down too?
I personally didn't find MASH very inspiring, at least not in the way that watching someone rip up a street course on a BMX would be. Thus I immediately judged the fim as "not for me". This doesn't mean that it was a failure, simply that the next attemp needs more work to make it more polished.

I agree with your opinion whole heartedly.

even in the realm of Skateboarding Videos MASh was a bit dull - but the cause seems to be that there really isn't a lot of interesting stuff you can do on a bike.

at least with Skateboarding there is a little more range. - flips, slides, airs, stairs, etc...

man how can you compare riding track bike on the streets of SF to skating.there is no comparison.
MAshsf for me is riding gnarly hills and steez.the main focus is steez.Watching it you can see the mix of older footage and the newer stuff.aka filler.

if i wanted to watch tricks n sheeeeit i watch a BMX flick or if worse comes to worse bootleg sessions.style wise i think bootleg is no where near mash.hell i can watch jonvontae do a meag ass wheelie for hours and not get bored but thats me.

all im sayin is its kool to have these resources to motivate and get the ol brain juices going.now stop watching tv and get out on yah bike.peace..

I think it is clever what MASH have done, kind of building a brand out of nothing, kind of like what fixedgearlondon are doing, it seems to be working well and best of luck to them.

As has been stated this is the first go at this type of video, so practice make perfect plus the "scene" of fixed free style is new so the tricks out there are not that impressive yet. They never will be BMX level excitement however I think over the next year or so things will go from "I can't do that myself but it is not that far from what I could do if I spent some time practicing" to "how on earth do they do that". The new range of trick track bikes will allow progression a bit more.

Personally I think 26" wheels and riding a bike a little too small for you would make things easier. Stronger wheels and something you can through about abit more but people are in love with the 700cc thing too much I guess.
