  • you should have looked on a certain australian fixed forum where there's a link to it free (you didn't hear that from me)

  • Not meaning to sound funny but what exectly did you expect? It's a DVD about couriers in SF, did you want Sylvester Stallone and Uma Thurman doing cartwheels on top of skyscrapers dodging molotov cocktails?!

well to be honest I wasn't expecting anything, I actually brought it simply because it's about fixed gear alone, turn out to be a bit dull, but nonetheless enjoyable.

  • I watched it last night with a mate of mine. Its no ground breaking video, but its well edited and it has a good soundtrack, and most importantly it made us want to instantly jump on the bikes. Night time rain riding is fun. The book was ok as well..

Any chance of a link to this certain link?

  • fuck it, i'll post it even though i'm pretty sure it's not kosher, but i guess it's old enough not to matter too much and it's poor enough quality to still make buying the actual dvd worth it
    enjoy

  • does anyone know what kind of gear inches the mash guys are running.i ride in sheffield which is hilly as fuck and wondered what they're riding.i run 48/18 around 72 inches.
i notice the film does'nt show them riding up any hills.

  • ted shred

  • ted shred

    Ted "Raleigh Lizard" Shred

  • yeah ted shred rides a brakeless lizard on a freewheel...soon to be ted dead riding like that

  • I can't say for sure about individual MASH guys but I ride 46x16 and 44x15 around SF pretty regularly and seem to have similar cadence as folks I've ridden with.

  • Mash is amazing. They pioneered this scene which bought it to the masses.

They are a direct influence for us at fixedgearlondon.

    As they were for Macaframa.

  • And it's not a movie about couriers.

  • I thought it was....

  • Pedal is about couriers.

Mash is about people riding bikes... i think 5 of them work as couriers/messengers.

  • Mash is not just about people riding bikes, 'any old' bikes, there's no 4 year old kids in it with stabilisers
Mash(to me atleast) is about the development and growth of fixed wheel riding which ultimately has stemmed from the couriers who ride them and I'd say most if not all the guys that were in the vid have been couriers at some point

  • most, is half of them.

I'm not disagreeing with you on this...

  • thanks for the info, seanbonner.maybe i should change my gearing alittle

  • mash and pedal are both being shown at cube cinema in bristol 23rd "A NIGHT OF NO GEARS"

    http://bristolgraffiti.files.wordpre...pg?w=500&h=353 4£ according to uphill_downhill

  • MASH is OK but I prefer the bonus 'outtakes' bit

  • Went to S&M the other night, played it safe with original, but was tempted by the parsnip and cheese mash. Is that parsnips and cheese added to normal mash, or mashed parsnips with cheese in? How parsnip overload is that?

  • S&M in Portobello? Highly over rated imo. Everytime I've been I've had shit food - sausages with bone and/or grissle, cold mash and/or gravy, red onion gravy with no onions in it...

  • It wasn't mindblowing to be fair. Also a large party of Australians were sat right next to us, put me right off my grub.
