Yeah the name is crap but they are nice & chunky ride really nice. I like the red one :-)

Because it could have just been posted in the BMW thread. Also "why folk really seem to dislike" could have been answered by reading that thread.

But just to summarize, common reasons why people don't like them:

fwiw I like them, and if I had the money I'd have an ss one with disc brakes.

people don't like them because they think they are build buy Bayerische Motoren Werke AG which really isn't the case.... they have nothing to do with the German automobile company
we could all understand if people hated BMW ( Bayerische Motoren Werke AG )'s because they are usually driven by jumped up junior management types

I once went to BMW's factory and shop in Williamsburg to pick up some MTB gloves for TS. It was quite interesting. I have never seen so many hipsters as on the subway there from Union Square or the streets around it. Not that excited about the bikes though. If you want a good bike shop in NY go to Signature Cycles.
