A new UK record high temperature has been set in the Scottish Highlands, according to provisional figures from the Met Office.
It recorded a peak of 19.6C (67.3F) at Kinlochewe on Sunday, making it hotter than Rome and the Cote d'Azur.
If confirmed it would be the highest January temperature in the UK, breaking a record set in 2003 by more than a full degree celsius.

Seriously, when is it going to stop raining? It's starting to feel like we're in Watchmen.

I do live in the southwest and I can say without exaggeration that since October we have only had two days where it hasn’t rained at some point or other during the daylight hours.
It’s easy to be a doom-monger when you have to endure that but we did have a very long, dry spell around May-June.
But then again, doom to your hearts content cos nice as that sounds it’s also a weird weather occurrence. -

Looking forward to the drought in a few month.

Anyone in the southeast of England who thinks it rains a lot has some serious confirmation bias issues.

I'm further West Wales. I'm convinced that last summer was a complete write off other than a couple weeks in June? It's been raining pretty much since October 2022.

I don't think you understand how daylight saving works.
-
• #9648
I know, right. You get to save some daylight to use on the shittier days.

Yes, I recently found some old daylight in a book I hadn't read for many years.
So glad I I replaced blown away my fence with hazel hurdles then planted honeysuckle and ivy into it. That beast of a hedge isn’t going anywhere.
