It looked horrible at 6.30 when the wind woke me up but cycling in at about 8.30 was okay.
Got into the office to find a note saying work from home if you can. What's the point in sending something like that at 9.20?!?

Stupid cat went out on the roof at 6am for whatever reason and was too scared to come back in so hid on the neighbours side of the pitch which was sheltered. Eventually a flying plastic bag scared him inside again.

^^ I'm not surprised. I think the reason so many people didn't cycle in at my work is probably because they were listening to the TV/radio, which at 8am was still talking like the storm was still going on, when it had clearly stopped.
People trust the media over their own judgement, if they'd just stuck their heads out of the window they would have seen it was fine.

This.
The BBC's coverage of it this morning made me decide to cycle in rather than not as they always over egg everything.

Yeah, but a lovely breezy day that I can spend at home. :)

Why should people who ride make it to work while those who use trains get to bail and sit at home in their underpants? Equal rights for cyclists!

I find it interesting how the memory of 1987 is still so strong that this slightly OTT reaction is adopted--better safe than sorry. However, it's also, clearly, people enjoying taking a break from the usual.

I cycled to work after the 1987 storm, and did so again this morning.

pfff - there's nothing in twitter about that 1987 storm , clearly this one is far worse.

This is storm 2.0 though, look at all the user generated content.

Had a nice (only slightly windy) ride New Cross > Marylebone.
The mashed up crane on OKR provided Instagram material for the day. Parliment Square to Hyde Park Corner was lovely. Hyde Park being closed was a bit of a pain, making everyone ride up Park Lane doesn't seem too clever.

After being the key word in your claims of bravado and daring do. It's easy to be 'hard' once it has all blown over.

Opportunist.
Yeah I work 'normal' hours. Wouldn't have wanted to be out at 6am, it woke me up.
