  • Although that said, starting work before 10am produces much the same effect for me

  • Gets to leave at 4

    waves at playstation

  • It's fine out there...

  • It does actually look fine now, but it's too late. Have started working from home, don't want to disrupt the flow.

  • A bit of a let down
Not a tree knocked down nor hardly a leaf fallen.
    Htfuuu

  • Anyone who was asleep at 6am is banned from saying htfu. Things were Very Different. And there are plenty of trees down.

  • ^^ Finsbury Park Road, this morning...

Was fine riding in though, apart from a brief 'oh shit' moment while stood waiting at a red light in Russell Square when a sudden gust nearly knocked me over.

  • ^ shit.

Is that yours? And is there some sort of feed to see where trees are down?

  • It's my photo. Thankfully it's not my street, tree or car.

  • Rooftile on the pavement. Lots of dead wood.

  • Once out of the highlands of Forest Hill it was pretty normal.

  • A bit of a let down
Not a tree knocked down nor hardly a leaf fallen.

    This.

  • A couple of trees down near Chiswick, a fair few branches blocking roads or sitting on top of parked vehicles.

But largely, with a tailwind, it was a lovely ride.

A hell of a lot of storm debris though. Some trashcans emptied across streets, and tons of leaves, twigs and small branches everywhere.

  • Just seen my neighbour's car being towed up the road. The front's all smashed in :/

  • Yep. Got in unscathed. A hairy moment coming down Park Lane when a bus overtook me at a cross road and I had to really hold onto the bike other than that no major problems.
Plenty of trees down in Hampstead & Regents park. The Mall and Constitution Hill/Green Park are closed to cars and it is lovely. Anyone get the opportunity to ride that way this morning should take it as cycling is allowed

  • Oh, and places like Hyde Park are closed. If a park can be closed it has been. I assume this is because of the risk of trees and branches and nature stuff.

  • The authorities seem to be on top of this one. I only enncoutered one downed tree in the road on the way in, and at 0730 there was already a bunch of lads with chainsaws and a wood chipper dealing with it.

  • Lewisham council actually have a fallen tree map. I'm quite impressed.

  • Well, that was a long and pointless walk. It's mildly blowy but no more so than yesterday afternoon. Quite a few trees down in East Dulwich and I definitely would not have wanted to be out at 6am - it woke me up and I sleep like the dead.

  • That map is amazing! There's an old telly on the pavement just round the corner from our house.

  • i remember the storm of 1987.. three hours to get in, power cut and no heating.. three hours to get home..

only one tree down by euston / gordon st, pretty uneventful morning, really.. except seeing a kid being dropped off at northbridge school by BMW X5 mum, only to realise its half term.. made me giggle inside..

  • I found it weird that they'd closed the park as forcing people who usually ride through it to ride Park Lane is asking for trouble.

  • Letting people under freshly storm damaged trees is also asking for trouble and councils/public bodies have been sued by the families of people who have been killed by falling trees/branches before. It's one thing if it's random, if there's just been a big storm it would look pretty negligent.

Just a bit windy really. A tree down across the road near Homerton station:

And a tree down on top of a car a bit later on. Lots of tree debris in the roads around Victoria Park.

Disappointed by the bike racks at work, they were virtually empty. HTFU colleagues.

  • Looks quite bright, you would have missed the worst of it.
