I spotted a balaclava yesterday.
my favourite was the one in Clapham sporting a short, trainer and t-shirt while wearing a balaclava.
I don't think it's cold enough to get sprinter's lung.

The lobster gloves made the inter début today.. Toasty, toasty, toasty fingers..
Lobster gloves are on my wishlist. Made do with plastic carrier bags over my gloves today (which are warmish, but not water proof). Can't say it's a good look, but worked a treat from a warmth point of view.

do they come in pink, damo? (actually, that's probably what you mean...)
i am going to stump up for the merino jobbies, if only to see if they are as good as the hype.

Even the thickest of woolen socks wont help if its cold enough. You need to stop the freezing air getting in, with a well fitting pair of over-shoes.

Merino mix socks from M&S £10 for 3, some oversocks and overshoes over that. Actually a bit too warm. 2010 Altura Shield gloves are massive improvemnt on previous version, not needed silk liners so far which I def needed with old version.

The Oracle maybe talking some sense. The body retracts heat from the extremities to protect the core. So it would be easier to keep your feet warm if the rest of you is, including the legs, which many of us tend to leave exposed until the coldest months.

Have been using the Decathlon winter socks. Nasty man-made materials, but I have been warm enough this week.

You would need to have a catastrophically low core temperature for your leg circulation to shut down due to cold. There are pretty big bore arteries pumping down there.
Feet, on the other hand...
And hands, on the other foot...
If your legs are not covered you will loose more heat through them, they do not have to shut down. Your body only has so much thermal energy, if you loose more due to legs being uncovered there is less to pass on to your feet.

None of which is remotely the same as the patently nonsense claim that your feet can't be warm if your legs aren't.
I spotted a balaclava yesterday.
