hmmm i'm seriously thinking about doing that. They must be good if the postie trots around all bloody morning with a ton of post in british weather.
-
• #53
Yeah they are, comfortable and cos they're so big they spread the load around evenly. That's what made me get it in the first place : "Who carries heavy stuff all day?"
A few years ago, i saw a postie cycling along the canal, chased him down and he gladly sold it me. They can get another one easily. Just remember to remove the royal mail logo, and you're good to go. -

ive been after one of for ages allways wondered how you got one, right i've gotta stalk my postman now
-
• #55
i got mine from bricklane mkt for £2!
-
• #56
yeah, i wondered how you'd got that. i may just try that!
-

Make sure you chop the Royal Mail logo off though, a friend of mine nearly got his bag confiscated at the airport once, so he says.
Queens property innit. -
• #58
Me too. Tried looking for one a markets / boot sales e.t.c Never though to ask a post man if he would sell one!

They are fine and cheap if you can get hold of one. I used one when I was working as a courier and it was relatively comfortable when not overloaded. They don't withstand the rain very well though. I always had a couple of good quality large plastic bags folded at the bottom to use in case of rain. Otherwise the deliveries would get a bit soggy. Apart from that a pretty decent and sturdy bag worth having if, as I said before, you can get hold of one.

You want a Royal Mail bag?? Noo!
Don't you know that stuff you put in won't appear for weeks at a time?!?! Sometimes months and only after lots of phonecalls are made..
Are you lot mad?? -
• #61
round here the postmen use those wheelabout trolleys..
you know, the ones with all your expensive things in jiffy bags inside, the ones they just leave at the end of the road for ages whilst they amble around a mile away..
-
• #62
hehe yeah same here
lucky it's illegal to steal post eh? ;) -
• #63
a bit of googling and i have found...
- apparently the use of a royal mail bag by someone who is not employed by the Royal Mail is illegal
- apparently the use of a royal mail bag to do anything except deliver mail is illegal
I haven't found that from an "official source". Just googling and a 2/3 sites have said that. And...
this looks like the company who makes the royal mail's bags!

well i've bought it before dawn(not really) so it's legal even if it's stolen (thank you very much unwritten post medieval English constitution) and since now it's my property i can do whaterver the hell i want to do with it.

The only annoying thing is, you can't dye it black, it stays that colour. So, people think your a postman, non-cyclists don't understand that proper courier bags cost a lot of money and this bag is a total catch!
-
• #75
apparently cold dye will dye it
Get one of these by slipping your postie a fiver. Cheap as chips, waterproof, comfortable, and massive.
