  • Anyone else on Wahoo ever get duplicates when it syncs to trainingpeaks?

  • Garmins aren’t always total crap but they have their drawbacks.

Wahoo seems like a good choice these days and is reasonably priced.

Having an iPhone on the front of a road bike will always look awful.

  • But I already have an iPhone which is a pretty sophisticated computer, which I would always take on a ride anyway.

With regard to looks, iPhones themselves are pretty slick. If Apple themselves designed the mount it could feasibly look fine.

  • Surely it would cost more to replace a smashed iphone then it would to up front for a GPS unit? God forbid you had a crash.

  • My friend rides with his iphone 6 plus on a quadlock mount as well as his Wahoo Element. Although it is GIANT, it's super sturdy, and survived unscathed from a crash on an alpine descent which left him with pretty nasty road rash.

Also battery shouldn't be too bad, as long as you load the maps before, and just have it using GPS whilst riding.

  • What about wahoo?

  • In the crash? The crash was before he got that. He only got the wahoo as he now has a power meter. still uses the iphone for navigation.

  • The Quadlock mounts look nicest, although not that cheap. Or there are a whole variety of crappy options for £5-£10 on Aliexpress.

I've not found anything as hard-wearing and works as well when pissing it down with rain as a Garmin or Wahoo but in theory there should be plenty of apps out there to let you use your phone (although maybe not all in one neat app).

  • I use a Garmin but also a phone mount with one of two Android phones. Battery life is maybe 9hrs for the phone (not considering I can charge on the fly with a dynamo or spare battery). I use either RideWithGPS app or OSMAnd software.

I've not tried it yet but an app called Gallileo Pro was also recommended to me. All of these options allow you to store offline maps.

  • Quadlock are nice. Don't mount them directly to the back of a Sony though - use a case.

I have one of their handlebar mounts I'm not using as well as a aerobar mount and some of those profile knob mounts sitting around.

I got a new phone when the Sony died and had to use one of these mounts as I couldn't find a solid plastic one to use with my quadlock. It worked.

  • Very occasionally, yes. It's like it doesn't receive the confirmation that the upload has worked so it has another go. Mildly annoying, but still not as wrist-slittingly frustrating as using a Garmin.

  • I’ve thought this before, but it looks like the Karoo may be going into full production very soon.

Fingers crossed the software is sorted by the same time.

  • With xmas looming i get to start making demands that don't get met forcing me to just purchase myself instead.

I want to get either the Element or the Bolt which do people prefer?

  • Any of you charge the bolt with a battery pack while riding? Works?

  • Have you a link for the aero bar mount I can't find it...

  • How come? Because cheaper or betterer?

  • No use of the bigger screen (same amount of pixels).

  • It's not a specific aerobar mount, it's just the universal mount.

I've also got a bridge mount I've used like this:

  • Hmm not sure if that'd work on my Canyon in one aero bars and bars

  • I've got both, naturally. I prefer the larger screen of the Elemnt. They're both good though.

  • I bought one of these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/sram-quickview-garmin-computer-mount-adaptor/rp-prod123354 and after a bit of dremel action epoxied it to a hard case which then mounts to any garmin mount which has worked very well as a possible, low profile option. The bulk of many of otp mounts put me off.

  • Aerocockit? Raceware will 3d print you a mount - really good

  • For anyone who ore-ordered the Karoo, they did a blog post and it’s now in production.

Should start shipping in the coming days!
