Up in the cold dark north that is Glasgow we're thinking of getting some caps made. Weirdly, Charlie from Fernando Carvalho* contact me saying that he'd heard I was interested in getting caps made (power of the internet) and let me know about some pricing.
Charlie says that the caps are made of micro-fibre which sounds interesting. What is the quality like? I'll also consider a cap swap if anyone's interested (you'll have to wait until ours are ready of course).
*They make the Rollapaluza caps

Not sure who make them but the LCEF caps are sturdy and high-quality. And big enough for my big head.

need a few washes to be comfortable, good sized and they hold tight in a number of positions (up tip b-boy style to flat down serious racer) But not the softest i have worn.
-
• #941
With your lovely coiffured barnet Pip how can you feel if they are soft or not? Or have you been caught short when out on a ride before and needed something soft to clean up with?
-
• #942
rusty they sound like the original rollapaluza caps rather than the latest traditional cloth ones they do now, there used to be a pic of casper with one on the site but its not there now, I'm sure one of the boys would post it up. I have one of both, the micro fibre ones are softer and closer fitting, I personally didnt get on with them and prefer the trad cloth cap but that's just personal pref I know quite a few guys on here liked them.
-
• #943
would definitely say that i prefer the look of the newer cloth caps rather than the older Carvalho made ones
-
• #944
you want the cotton ones, TBH
the funny polyester ones are ok under a helmet because they're breathable, but the peaks are too soft to be any use.

i have the original microfibre Rollapaluza cap, complete with foamy peak. i'm not much of a fan. the peak is floppy and weird. i think there's a reason why Rollapaluza swtiched to a more traditional cloth cap for the second run they had done.
sorry don't have a pic handy.

I have some carvalho caps and agree with most of the above -they're fine for under helmets, but not the best on their own. The floppy brim is pretty shit, and it flaps all over the place. Get cotton -best I've come across other than the_bonk's tweedy goodness is Walz caps -and they do custom ones!

Roger to all of the above, we don't get our caps from Carvalho any more we switched to the same supplier that Rapha use for their promo caps.
The lycra style cap that Carvalho make split opinion, but most didn't like....it's irrelevant to me because no caps fit my huge noodle..
You're welcome to pm me if you want comments on their customer service and pricing etc.

I was thinking of this the other day. Chris Moores came into my shop. Should be a good one!
Also I spoke to Mr J Wood, He's really looking forward to it!
