Winston
I am delighted that you enjoyed the 1000m. I would enjoy watching you ride it too ;o)
It was good (if almost suicidal for the elderly among us) and it will make a 500m easier and faster.
Pre Christmas would be great. Ideally when the younger Os can accompany their parents and be embarrassed by them

if living the rest of his life out confined to an iron lung is considered "fine", then yes.
Like I said.. he's doing fine..

Thought the 1k was great.. especially since I didn't ride it. Would like to see it again.

So when's the next one?
-
• #883
So was the 1k a good idea? I loved it, thought it was great for spectators and although there are still dominant racers I thought it mixed it up a bit.....considering throwing a few more in to the league.
Next confirmed league date is January 14th, however trying to squeeze a pre-xmas one in too......if you lot are keen we'll work harder to do this.
I'll refer you to winston's previous post.

hey winston, so where can i find a clear explanation of the overall scoring for the league ?
How does it relate to attendance? do you have to be at x amount of events to be even qualified, or can you just show up to one racing occasion, have the best time amongst all the racers in all the league competitions and win the league ? I have no idea how this works, are the rules posted somewhere? -

I think the kilo makes for better spectating, they way it can swap and change several times in one race.
I wonder if UCI gearing over 1k would make for as exciting racing, but with a slightly faster time?
just my idle mind ticking.. -

ooo or a team event. 500m, 1k and a 2k killer! ;)

We are taking this opportunity to experiment with formats and consequently there are no rules outlined for the competition.
The points scoring systems is as follows:
1st - 10
2nd - 8
3rd - 6
4th - 4
1/4's - 2
first round - 1We are recording the times as well for interest and to help decide who is faster if two or more racers are tied on points.
Last night and the response to it showed us that 1k racing is good, we'll have to think a little more before we publish any hard and fast rules surrounding the league.
One strong possibility is that there will be of both length events and the top 3 of 4 (for instance) times and points go towards each individuals league standings.
You are all involved in a giant experiment in pain.

Some of them are crap, need cropping/adjusting/red eye etc, but I'm going away tomorrow and won't have time until next week. Thought it'd be better to have them up than have them nice.Compare and contrast:
they are some good photos there. nice one.

I can't believe I missed this. It was a choice between it or a good steak restaurant with someone else paying for food, cocktails and other booze.
needless to say, the dinner was amazing, but this sounds like more fun.
Well done all, glad it went so well.

Will there ever be an event for those among us who are primarily composed of slow-twitch muscle fibres? Or do I have to keep going to flat time trials? ;)

It looks and sounds like a great event, I was sorry I couldn't make it but will definitely try to make future editions. 1k racing sounds like a good innovation, too!
Now the people who do 500m in 20-21 seconds will just have to see sense and not do 2x500m in 41-42 seconds, that's just unreal.
The kph/mph is amazing if you don't have to contend with air resistance:
(time/kph/mph)
1 Matt Theobalds 42.09 85.5 53.5
2 Joe Wood 42.18 85.3 53.3
**3 **Jason Cattermole 42.85 84.0 52.5
4 Tim Renowden 43.18 83.4 52.1
**5 **Chris Moores 43.41 82.9 51.8
**6 **Hillbilly 43.50 82.8 51.7etc.

Had a great night too. Great music and amazing racing. Will succumb to Stelle's taunts and race next time. Promise.
Good to meet you Cliveo, Tika, Cynthia and others but got drunk and can't remember now.

guys but if you make a pre-xmas race then half of the people will be out due to going back home already, maybe you can do one more after new year instead ?
-
• #898
ha yes I'm sorry for singling out people and trying to persuade them ride! Hide your name from me or forever suffer the consequences, that's the lesson here. I had a wonderful night as always, Rollapaluza is amazing. We just need more cash betting to really get the crowd going. Thanks all for tolerating my ahem MC/blathering.
...and next time I will dress like Little Bo Peep.

Was trying to get the bets rolling but Jimbobby couldn't understand my cross-room gesticulations.
Great MC work by the way. You and Rob should do stand-up.

The next one that is booked is the 14th Jan. We might well fit another in between now and then.
It won't have much affect on your standing if you can't make one of the races. We are currently taking the top three results for each rider.
