    Err no thanks!

  • Zefal standard pump from Evans, 4.99, much better than any mini I've tried, gets up to 90 psi. At about 55cm it fits into any bag and you will of course have your track pump at home to get up to 120. Mini pumps are rubbish, frustrating and unneccessary.

Topeak Mini-morph is a fucking great pump and can get you up to 120psi without many problems. Well designed little thing too. Alternatively the full size one (which is still a mini pump really) the Topeak Road Morph is just as good but gives you a little more power due to the longer barrel... so basically if you want to spend £25+, mini pumps aren't rubbish.

And if you are riding without a bag?

    Most fit in jersey pockets.

  • I think hippy was talking about frame pumps - they're about 3 times as long as the depth of a jersey pocket, so not very secure really.

Better weapon, however, than a mini-pump.

  • Ahh right. Frame pumps are shite anyway*

*Especially when they are 20 years old and made entirely of plastic.

  • I've still got a Zefal HPX somewhere - not sure if it fits any of my frames though (definitely not the semi-compact ones). And I don't like fitted under the top-tube unless there's a pump peg, straps or otherwise...

... just checked - it does fit along the seat-tube of my Burls. I suppose it's an option if there's no room for a mini pump in my pockets. Hmmm. Interesting. Not.

  • Haha, yeah mine's a Zefal SP4, feels like it's on its last legs, is more than twice as long as my Topeak Road Morph and gets about half as much pressure into my tyres.

I think the best option if you don't want to carry a bag/wear a jersey is to just tie your good mini pump to the underside of your top tube with bits of old inner tube or velcro straps.

(I'm pretty sure this discussion is dead, typing that last sentence felt a bit pointless)

  • I'm pretty sure this discussion is dead

    I'll second that motion.

  • Man, you fuckers have killed this thread in the face...

  • No, you have.

  • Ved killed it in the face until it died of it.

  • Some technical info to add to my previous posts on the Specialized Windpipe.

Yesterday, I timed how long it took to pump through different pressures, on 2 different 700x23 Armadillo All Conditions.

40psi-60psi Low Pressure Setting: 1 minute
60psi-110psi High Pressure Setting: 4 minutes
110-120psi High Pressure Setting: 1 minute
110-125psi High Pressure Setting: 3 minutes

I pumped 2 tyres (front and rear), and thought I might time myself, and share.
I used a quick but steady action, but not what I would consider a fast action.

60psi on Low Pressure Setting, is where strong resistance is begun to be felt.
All psi's to 125psi, on High Pressure Setting, feel less than 40psi on the Low Pressure Setting,
    ie. very easy indeed.

  • Anyone have any views on the Parktools pmp3. I'm looking for something tiny for emergencies on short rides. I have a nice track pump for home use and a Crank bros medium sized pump for longer rides/ travelling with bike. I now feel the need for a tiny pump that does'nt take as much space as the Crank bros.

    1. You have to get to a petrol station
    2. The pumps often max out at a piddling 60psi or something.

    I'd rather carry a mini.

  • Best pump I've ever owned.

    What is it?

  • literally i have never used a product as well designed as the mini morph. If you like any other mini pump it's because you haven't used the mini. You can easily pump your tires up to 140 psi.... and quickly. So convenient to use that i actually choose to use the mini over walking 15 seconds into the basement just to to get my floor pump when i need some air.

  • What is it?

can't see how it's better than the minimorph because you aren't able to push against the lovely planet earth when inflating, but it's made by the same brohas.

  • I'd rather use a mini pump than walk or ride on the rim to a petrol station

  • 1) I live in London so I am never too far from one.
    2) I was able to do my MTB shocks with a petrol station pump. I run 140 on the rear.

    1. Too far is always relative to how fast you have to be somewhere..

    2. Where was the service station that got you to 140psi?

  • You win

    ...at being a div

  • Nope.
Bunking off today and watching hentai

  • Wanna come over?

  • 1) I have needed neither petrol station pump or mini pump for my commuting/riding in London. I put that down to tyre choice.

    2) Cwncarn

    1) You don't ride enough. Other people don't limit themselves to London.

    2) So you're full of shit then. Well done.

  • I've got the masterblaster pocket rocket pumpywumpy.

    Its fine.
