Can you run the kore crosstop independantly from another brake lever?
-
• #29
They are for a straight bar and the gold fingers' look like they bend away from the bar too much. if this is not the case then please let me know.
Gold fingers are made to be used on the bend in the bar, so if you have them on a straight bar they may be a bit too far away for comfort. I run them on risers and they work well.
For straight bar check out the Pauls, with new addition...
E-Levers now available in 7/8 inch (22.2mm) for flat or riser bars
Have these on bullhorns and they be the best levers I've had!!

Thanks. I like the pauls but may have to lie to my darling wife. Oh well, she won't have a clue.
Would any old BMX style lever work? see link above. -

I got the dirt harry and machined it out to fit my bullhorns, it's a bit squeaky, but works a treat.

I don't see a reason why a BMX lever wouldn't work?? -

Cross tops work great, are super light and pull well. Those Diacomp dual pull levers are awesome. No idea where to get them in the UK, but the sub part is just so you can brake with both hands, but obviously the smaller side will have less braking power.
+1 only the stumpy one will have less power, the normal lever will act a normal cross top lever.
I noticed Charlie the bike monger from that there ebay has started to stock some Gran Compe bits, maybe he will get these in. He has the Gran Compe Track cranks which look positively diseased.

Yes, all old school BMX levers were designed to work with calipers. If they're old school they'll have a 22.2mm clamp

Thanks. Should be able to convince one of the engineers at work to adapt them.

Agree. Scratched a nice nitto bullhorn getting them buggers on there!
They only one they do with a hinge is the cross lever and at $109...

They go on easy of you first open up the clamp a little with a screwdriver.
I got them on my Nitto drops (much more noodly than bullhorns) quite easily and scratch free.

Ahh so swearing at them, twisting them to buggery and using brute force is not the optimum way to apply? Must have read the instructions wrong :)
Thanks for the top tip, have another lever on it's way, so will try the screwdriver way!

its less that and more having to remove the bar tape... dooh.

Get a big screwdriver (or spoon/knife etc) wrap the 'action' end in a tea towel to prevent it scratching the lever in anyway - completely remove the clamp bolt - insert the screwdriver into the gap and gently prise open, you only need to put 2 or 3 millimetres of extra space for them to go on fairly easily.
You may not be bothered that much, but I also filed the outer edges of the clamp so they were rounded and not sharp.

Don't wanna start a new thread.
As I am about to become a proud owner of a Fuji Track, I am looking for some brakes and levers.
Those goldfingers or dirty harrys certainly look nice, but they are all 22.2 mm, aren't they?
Fuji bars apparently have 26 mm diameter, any decent levers I canget for it?
Or do I need to start with replacing stem and bars??

I run a KORE crosstop, £20 for the pair and only 40 grams each. They rock!
